The only band I can think of that's over 20 years old and, as far as I can determine, has never put out a bad album is Pere Ubu. I haven't heard everything, but I am including Cloudland in this estimation, which a lot of people consider to be the band's worst effort. There are very few Pere Ubu songs I don't like.

As far as new releases are concerned, 2005 kind of sucked a lot. This year made up for it in a big way. However, most of the new records that I really loved were released by bands and artists who've been around for a long time ago. Maybe they decided to come back out of the woodwork since the youngsters proved that they just weren't able to hack it last year. Not everything was gold, though...

While passing through Knoxville this past weekend, I dropped by a record store called the Disc Exchange.
