If anyone is going to be in the London area betwen March 5th-10th I suggest that you stop by and see Manchester Orchestra play at one or all of the following locations. They are a young and up and coming band that is already getting great recognition. Once they return home from playing in London they will begin their tour as the opening acts for Brand New and then some dates opening for Saves the Day and Say Anything. You can learn more about them on their myspace at http://www.myspace.com/manchesterorchestra. So check them out and buy their CD!!

Let me know if my family is just unique or if everyone's family is like this. This is how I know I am in a musical family. My father steals my cds all the time. He has stolen everything from Ozzy Ozbourne to Deathcab for Cuties, to Live, to Bush. When I come home for the holidays I find him barbecuing to Snow Patrol and/or Pearl Jam. My brother is a dj on the side. He has kind of led me through all of my phases in musical growth. He was the first to lead me into grunge and other alternative 90s rock (not the stuff the label as alternative rock like Smashmouth or anything). He then led me to acknowled The Doors and Pink Floyd. Last he discovered and emmersed himself into the underground Atlanta club scene which although it has died since his day to a great degree, he and his friends do their part to keep it alive. He also called me yesterday morning singing Keane to me over the phone. He is a late comer, but I find it inspiring that he takes a chance on new music that is outside of trance or classic rock. My sister also is obsessed with music and has been my concert buddy for as long as I can remember. She and I actually grew to love and respect each other through music after going through a phase of not really getting one another. She pretty much only dates musicians and she also calls to sing me songs over the phone. I save them in my phone mailbox and listen to them often. My mother is the doozy. My mother and father have always had music on in the house for use to listen to. She is the only member of the family that can actually play an instrument - the flute. She also calls to sing to me, but usually it is 50 cent and only when she thinks I have had a bad day. She tried to hide it but she bought the double disc cd and dvd compilation of his. She has also beat me to the punch in buying Damien Rice's new album and the Last Kiss Soundtrack. She is over 50 and still goes to concerts with me. She is also the most classic southern, housemom you have ever seen. I love my family and I thank all of them for keeping me inspired and supporting my addiction to the music I love and my continuing journey for the next big musical love of my life. Sappy - yes, but I am so damn lucky!

LOVE. You are very lucky. My ma and pa listened to broadway classics like phantom of the opera and cats haha ( : That is what got me into piano. You should check out the band Belle & Sebastian if you don't already know of them. I think they will change your life. If you know them, grab Ali Farka Toure - Savane
