The Bruce Springsteen concert in Anaheim, California on April 7 which featured Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine on guitar is part of a four-song digital EP called Magic Tour Highlights". The performance (see video below) will be part of a special download only feature the proceeds of which going to charity.

The Boss
Morello joined Bruce Springsteen onstage on both April 7 and April 8 for an electric version of the Boss's The Ghost of Tom Joad (RATM recorded their own version of "The Ghost of Tom Joad" for its 2000 covers album, Renegades.)

The NightWatchMan
Morello explained "We've been friends for about 10 years and I just ran into him at a recording studio a couple of days before the show, and he said, you know, 'We need to get you up onstage, Tommy!'" he said. "Like, I don't get nervous for too much, I've, you know, I've rocked my share of arenas, but I was terrified (laughs). But it went great. His crowd couldn't have been more appreciative, and soloing over the rocking E STREET BAND while the Boss nods his approval is...those are a couple of nights that I'll remember forever."
"The Ghost Of Tom Joad"
Magic the album, the 15th studio album by Bruce Springsteen, was released in September 2007. It is his first with the E Street Band since The Rising in 2002. This album was #2 on Rolling Stone's list of the Top 50 Albums of 2007.
Magic Tour Highlights will be released July 15 on Itunes and other various digital download sites. The artists, songwriters, and music publishers are waiving all of their royalties from sales of these downloads and Columbia Records is donating all of its net profits, to the Danny Federici Melanoma Fund. The iTunes Store is donating their first year's net profits as well.
The release will consist of four audio tracks with four accompanying videos, all recorded live in concert during the 'Magic' tour.

It looks like only Itunes is selling the video; Amazon and Rhapsody are offering audio only.
Absolutely love Morello's work on this, and since the thing's for melanoma research I hope everyone who can plunks down the money. "Ghost" is the definite highlight of this batch of songs. The Escovedo track is excellent but almost exactly the same as Alejandro's studio version, Turn Turn Turn gets a great treatment from The E Street Band but god there's a lot of Byrds songs I prefer, and it's a fine version of 4th of July, Asbury Park but personally I own a ton of live versions of that song already.
Audio for all 4 tracks is $3 though and for a good cause, and if this ain't a three dollar song there just ain't a whole lot of em. I love that Bruce talks up Tom's acoustic guitar playing and then just lets him blow up some effects pedals toward the end of this.
Didn't know Bruce was co-producing Tom's next Nightwatchman lp. Another side note, Alejandro Escovedo recently hired Jon Landau as his manager. Whether there's a Roger McGuinn connection here I don't know.

well thank god it got the pimp seal of approval. especially after i went and personally recommended the song.
btw, the itunes version of the video is high-quality, close shots well filmed. damn bruce, i'm still trying to put together a best of his 1978 bootlegs (and pretty much every show got taped - i'm not trying to hear them all, just the dozens most heavily recommended, nowhere close to making it through) and he's still putting out classic live tracks 30 years later. which is part of why i'm focusing on one tour.
but hey, that whole escovedo album is heavily recommended, fine stuff, and i don't remember it being on the pimp top ten, which i assume means the man ain't heard it.
