MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

Artist:

Generation of fans and onlookers alike have been subejct to the onslaugh of gun toting, patriotx, hunting and fishing rocker Ted Nuget. In less than a month the 59 year old Nugent will celebrate his 6,000 live performance in his home town of Detroit, Michigan.

Nugent is calling the event a highlight of the 'summer of Ted' that includes his new CD, DVD, book and film.

Recently, Ted Nugent has become a spokesperson of sorts for not just the National Rifle Association, but for gun nuts everywhere. He's campaigned for 'common people' to carry concealed weapons, is a hunting advocate as well has been an outspoken proponent for America's 'war on terrorism.'

Negent explaining the upcoming celebration: "It is guaranteed to be the most emotional, sensual, grind fest of what you've witnessed on the 'Rolling Thunder Tour' so far — the highest level of energy from anybody, anywhere, anytime," says rock's legendary guitar frontman and virtuoso, currently on his 50th tour that will take him through September 27.

"I was born and raised in Detroit in the shadow of the mighty FUNK BROTHERS and I was taught the ropes of Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Mose Allison, John Lee Hooker, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry by Mitch Ryder and the DETROIT WHEELS. I started playing back there under the guidance of Joe Podorsek, my guitar teacher from the Capitol School of Music on Grand River Avenue, in 1957. My first performance was at the Michigan State Fairgrounds in the summer of 1958 with Joe Podorsek and the Capitol School of Music Revue. I don't remember such a level of fear in all my life, as I wasn't quite 10 years old. And to return on Independence Day is rather demonstrative of my American dream firestorm for almost 60 years. The feeling will be indescribable. And to have Greg Smith on bass and Mick Brown on drums," adds Ted, "will once again prove that God loves me more than he loves you because he keeps sending me these unbelievable world-class virtuosos to propel and throttle."

Continues Ted: "Michiganiacs demand maximum excellence — they are the ultimate demanding and discerning audience in the world. I have a connection with those music lovers that is personified in the borders of Michigan, and this show is going to be a mountain top that most musicians can only fantasize about."

I've seen Ted twice...back when he was on top and then 2 years ago, and he disappointed me both times. For all his bravado, he's an average guitarist at best and hasn't had a hit in 30 years. If "Michiganiacs" had to choose a performer to represent them, you think it would be Ted?! I'd go to the show, though, just to see what local talent opens up for him.

now if he would just bring out that gibson Byrdland guitar out of retirement. I saw every show in '70 and '71. The topper being the live album show 'Survival of the Fittest'  GO TED

I thought he hated his homestate now.  I remember reading something about him moving to Texas because Michigan was "too liberal" (or something along those lines).  I like some of Ted's solo stuff from the 70's and The Amboy Dukes were a great 60's punk band but that's as far as I'll go.  Damn Yankees...no thank you.

I always loved the story that Ted never knew that the Dukes "Journey To The Center Of The Mind" was about drugs.  I know he's a tee-totaller but come on.  I suppose he was too busy hunting or doing something else involving guns or a bow & arrow.

On the bright side, we got several months to celebrate the greatness that is Teddy.  I will raise a glass, or kill something, in his honor.

Ted Nugent can go drop dead, which he should have done years ago.

If the Dixie chicks did something similar but saying "Bush" and "Cheney", the Secret Service would be backstage before the show was over.

Wotmoney Tribe: I think Ted would insist you personally kill and gut your steak. That is one disturbing picture of him as a smiling murderer.
