Madonna is apparently paying tribute to "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott by playing what sounds a lot like the main riff to Pantera's classic song "A New Level" during her May 10, 2008 performance at Radio One's Big Weekend at Mote Park in Maidstone, UK.

Watch the footage below. (The "A New Level" riff can be heard six minutes and 20 seconds into the video.)
The song "A New Level" originally appeared on the Pantera album Vulgar Display of Power, which came out in February 1992. The song being one of more stand out tunes in on what is considered by many to be their flagship album.

Is Madonna turning into a full fledged metalhead? Not exactly. For her current tour she brought along Monte Pittman, guitarist of the thrash metal group Prong. Pittman's chance encounter with the material girl came after a man called the music store in Los Angeles where Pittman was working inquiring about guitar lessons, and Monte's name was passed along. That customer was none other than Guy Ritchie, film director extraordinaire and soon-to-be husband of Madonna.

"Guy was my third student," Monte said in a recent interview. "That was before Snatch came out, and I didn't know who he was. It turns out he and Madonna were dating. He had just had some surgery done on his knee, I believe, so he was off his feet and she got him a guitar. He started taking lessons, and he got pretty good at it. I remember the day Music (Madonna's CD) came out, and I taught him a few things from it. I thought it would be cool for him to play them for her."
Madonna will tour most of Europe in her "Sticky & Sweet" before sweeping most of North America later this summer. Check HER WEBSITE for listings.

A cry from the heart (is that a proper phrase?) -- I feel for and with you, Pimp. My life doesn't make sense, I'm a pathetic geezer but music keeps me going.
Great track, thanks for posting.
(I'm sure DMDM will be around soon enough)
My Trusted MOGs
Yeah, here I am. Mainlining music. I'm not gonna take the bait, PIMP, its too early in the Morn to argue, besides, I agree w/you (I think)
My Trusted MOGs
well, Pimpy...you know I love you but I've been posting my little heart out and where has the PIMP love been, I'd like to know. We've been busy while you've been hiding and although I understand you're reasons...
We've been trying.

I got a lot of respect for the Material Girl... but seriously... I mean, it's totally cool she's always changing things up... I just don't feel a need to spend a gazillion dollars to see that... hot damn though - she certainly rocks this one out of its disco shell... interesting... is she humpin the guitar or the amp ?!?

booger -> a virtual booger has been wiped -> OK, huge slut, and a major influence on young women's view of sexuality in the late 80' early 90's turned into a mother, child's book author -> now DIMEBAG? I couldn't watch the video, but if that riff was really played by Madonna, I flick a booger at her -> there are just some things that needn't be done, this is one of those things. Let's hear GWAR play 'like a virgin' right? C'mon man.
You knew I'd have to comment on this, even if you won't talk to me or acknowledge I exist anymore. Did you happen to catch the post I dedicated to you? if not, here is another fantastic Dimmu Borgir song for you, off of the Enthrone Darkness album -> a song called Relinquishment of Spirit and Flesh. -> mofo -> how old are you again.
My Trusted MOGs
Tyler you're so weird. I don't get it.
I think I have to fly out to Maryland and straighten all of this out
My Trusted MOGs
Sorry fellow moggers...my jaded cynicsm will have to be shelved this time...I am thoroughly supportive of anyone attempting to cross-pollenate musical genres. Add that to the fact that I already respect Madonna for her accomplishments and I suppose the Material Girl gets a pass this time
...Plus, who the hell knew she could play guitar???

nothing to straighten, I accomplished my goal -> you finally addressed me -> we had such a good repore going, then all of a sudden, 4 mogmails, 30+ comments later you weren't talking to me anymore, dropped me like a dirty condom or something -> I was attempting a friendship here, and things got turned inside out somehow -> If had had a problem with me, or something I said, you coulda manned up and straight out told is all -> Which is it? Yay or Nay? Rumble in Baltimore or Peace accross the nation?
My Trusted MOGs
nah dude, what's been going on is that I've had soooo much shit happening it's really just rediculous when it comes down to it. On the lighter side of all of it, I did a bunch of video interviews recently that'll be up on MOG super soon.
Tyler, you big galoot! You know I love ya, homes.

Who said Madonna can play guitar? She stood behind a guitar, and hacked at it for a few minutes. Hell, she couldn't even do anything with the feedback when she was humping the amp. Tip to Madonna: when you move your guitar around in front of the amp like that, it's to get the tones of feedback to change (they didn't, BTW), not look like you got your strings hooked onto the amp accidentally.
Also, I'm surprised no one noticed that she sang "Satisfaction" flat and crappy... and not at all in a cool R&R way. Someone is gonna have to remind me why people respect Madonna...
That said, the Pantera riff was a the best part of the song. I'm sure Dime would have a good laugh at that one. He was a mellow cat.

Sturg -> cool, staying busy ain't all bad -> just glad you didn't forget about me, how could you when my shadow friggin blocks the sun -> big...yes, galoot...not even sure what that means, despite hearing it at least a million times in my life ->
