Fans Walk Out Of Meat Loaf Show; Some Claimed He Was Drunk

Posted almost 4 years ago

Meat Loaf has responded to criticisms of his live performance after a number of fans walked out of a concert in Hampshire before the end, reports the BBC.

The 60 year old rocker was one of the headlining acts at the Broadlands three-day music event near Romsey, which also featured Boyzone and Katie Melua on the bill.

David Cox, A spokesman from Camp Loaf said there were "no problems" with the sound system and added that "he does not drink".

Fans on the Safe Concerts message board called the gig "disappointing" and said Meat Loaf's vocals were below par.

A reporter at the Broadlands event said the gig was marred by sound problems, but called him "a consummate old pro".

The reviewer on the This Is Hampshire website did concede that some fans were "muttering about the quality, and walked out well before the end".

In late 2007, Meatloaf was diagnosed with a cyst on his vocal cords. Surgery was successful and the singer was able to make a full recovery. On 27th June 2008, Meat Loaf returned to the stage in Plymouth, England for the first show of his Casa de Carne Tour.

Could it be he isn't properly healed?

Found this interesting article about vocal cord surgery and singer's approaches to the different types for different malignancies; radiation, the knife, and other other technologies involved in the process.

Apparently, a lot of advancements have been made in the last 5-10 years.

I happen to be someone who DOES Know...  I did  the show "Hair" with Meat ( Mars Touring company ) and a nicer , warmer talented, more caring dude could not be found anywhere.. I have seen him go to a performance in full tilt boogie pain with a severe migraine, and his only concern was that the fans of the show and that night's audience not be disappointed.  No one around a Concert likes to be blamed for  a low quality show.  I am sure that the "techies" doing the sound, lights, etc. did their jobs, but there are nights when the gremlins come out and mess up the carefully laid plans... " The best-laid plans of Mice and Men often gang aglee" ( R. Burns )...Meat has always been a full-throttle ahead performing Artist.  I am sure he gave his usually great best.  After all, how many of his many many concerts have EV-ER received a bad or negtive review, people?  NONE.  Something is "rotten in Denmark" and it sure ain't him..This is Meatloaf, not Brittney,Bobby Brown, Lindsey Lohan, Paris, Whitney, or any of the self destructive "Artists " who do this stuff to their fans everyday while demanding a paycheck and unearned respect..Clean up your minds and attitudes, people andtry to do the unthinkable... think positively towards an artist and contribute something nice, not just offer negativity after grabbing what you can from their ability to make youfeel good and get youaway from your 9 to 5 daily existance.. You owe at least a little faith and some good thoughts for what you have received already for years from this man...Hmmm?

Dig his guitar, reminds me of the "Hendrix Voodoo Strat." Knew a guitarist who played one. The thing is awesome! I'd love to grab one of those sometime if they still make them.
