Ringo's Birthday Request; Shout Out "Peace & Love"

Posted about 1 year ago

Ringo Starr is urging people around the world to gather in honor of his 68th birthday to encourage more 'peace and love' in the world, reports NME.

The former Beatle has put out a request for people to make a peace sign at noon on Monday (July 7) no matter where they are and shout or sing "peace and love".

"Wherever you are -- office, home, bus, tube, sitting, standing, walking, alone or with others, doesn't matter -- at noon on July 7 make the peace sign and think, say, shout, sing 'Peace & Love'", Starr said in a statement.

The drummer will be on hand at Chicago's Buckingham Fountainto mark the occasion. Other planned gathering spots include Abbey Road Studios in London, Imagine Peace Tower in Reykjavik,Capitol Records in Hollywood, and Strawberry Fields in New York's Central Park.
It will be 68 years ago to the day a bouncing baby boy was born at 9 Madryn Street, Dingle, Liverpool named Richard Starkey who would later be loved by millions as the anchor of the fab four.
Ringo, who as a child was plagued with bad health and allergies suffered much though his adult life with the same ailments. When he travelled to India in 1968 with the other Beatles, he took his own food with him.
Although the 68 year old Starr seems to be the picture of health(knock on wood!) while recently his former band mate died in George Harrison died of cancer in 2001.

I got an email from TheBeatles.com saying that Ringo would be at the Hard Rock Chicago on Monday.  But, I'm guessing that he's really going to be at Buckingham Fountain as reported here.

I'd love to join him for his birthday of peace and love!
