Jello Biafra Turns 50

Posted about 1 year ago

Jello Biafra celebrated his 50th birthday (and the 30th anniversary of DEAD KENNEDYS) by debuting his new band, AXIS OF EVILDOERS, via a pair of performances on June 16-17 at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, California.

A two-and-a-half-minute video report on the shows — including brand new interview footage with Biafra — can be viewed at HERE.

Joining Biafra in the new group are Ralph Spight (VICTIMS FAMILY,FREAK ACCIDENT, HELLWORMS) on guitar, Billy Gould (FAITH NO MORE, BRUJERIA, Kool Arrow Records) on bass, and Jon Weiss (SHARKBAIT, HORSEY, TONNAGE) on drums.

Fan-filmed video footage of the performances can be viewed below.

Back when he ran for mayor of San Fran, people would rally in support of him with signs that said 'If he doesn't win I'll kill myself.'

GOD! I wish he would have won.

Wow, he is 50! Looks good. I mean what was going on in the universe to create wonderful creative souls in 1958? Prince, Madonna, Michael Jackson were born in 1958 too! Thanks for sharing!

Wow. Jello Biafra is 50. He's only nine years younger than my dad. But at least he's still rockin', you know?

There is something funny about this I can't quite put my finger on.  At least I was only assaulted by a 49 year old.

Holy crap, time flies!!  I saw the DKs in 1984, and it was an amazing show.  I can't imagine The Courtship of Eddie's father kid being able to fill Jello's shoes....but in fairness, I can't criticize because I have not seen THAT line up in concert.

This is unsettling news. On the other hand, I'm delighted that he's alive and kicking!
