The Kaiser Chiefs + Oasis = The Fur Flies!

Posted over 3 years ago

Ricky Wilson, singer of the British group the Kaiser Chiefs recently was quoted as saying "we're better than Oasis."

Wilson

The singer added: "Oasis have disappeared up their own arse. They think they are Led Zeppelin. They're not... Music has moved on and I think we are the band that most music fans would see as their successor."

This was of course reported by the SUN.

Kaiser Chiefs

Speaking on the band's blog, drummer Nick Hodgson has suggested the story is not correct.

Hodgson explained: "The way I see it is Ricky was out, started talking to some guy. He didn't know he was a journalist (he didn't have a voice recorder or a notepad - which explains why the quotes from Ricky didn't sound like him at all)."

The drummer then added that Wilson may have said that Oasis have disappeared up their own asses, but he definitely didn't say the Kaiser Chiefs were going to replace them.

Oasis

"He [Wilson] said that Oasis had disappeared....., which is fair enough conversation material on a late-night boozy do," wrote Hodgson. "But the rest sounds like a load of made up in the morning journalistic interpretation. All the stuff about music fans seeing us as Oasis' successors - and how Ricky thinks the vocals are really shaping up. Crazy talk. The vocals are awful, only joking, they're lovely."

So all is well in the world of British rock... well, sort of.

In Other News,

Kaiser Chiefs new album produced by Mark Ronson is shaping up.

Frontman Ricky Wilson explained "Our new album is shaping up. I reckon it's our best stuff yet. I played it to our manager the other day, who has known us for over ten years, and a smile just spread across his face as soon as he heard it. He reckons that it's the best material we have come up with.

Although he added, "It isn't finished" while there is no word on a release day.

  3. Mindful says It seems that everyone secretly wants to be the next Oasis, Oasis probably want to be the next Kaiser Chiefs. I think bands are entitled to disappear up their own arse... after all its very Rock and Roll! I prefer Oasis, even if they are Manchester City supporters, not that you were asking that in fact you were not asking anything but I just need to babble on tonight... you see it happens... a late night conversation .. you have had a few drinks ... sometimes you can talk rubbish, sometimes under the influence you can speak the truth. I don't know what influences Sun journalists are under but I think its generally a sad one. Rock on geezers!
