  3. christheskins says The one time i saw(endured) "My Bloody Valentine" they were the opening act on a seemingly illustrious bill at Brixton Academy.. Their songs were "inaudible" behind a deliberate, constant howl of feedback.Maybe it was meant to be a joke, they gave out ear-plugs to their guest list ,it just made Me Bloody Angrytine. Underneath the ear-rending row,i could just about make out enough of the gist of the "arrangements" to conclude how shite they really were, the visual aid of when the drummer hit the crash cymbal giving the most indication...i hated their guts for that performance! ,...Get this ,next band was "Blur".. We all thought they were going to be dropped by their label at the time because "Modern Life is Rubbish" had been seen as quite a self-descriptive title by many..this was about 1988/89 i s'pose..next was who we had been waiting for"Dinosaur Junior" .. "yay"! ..the real deal amongst all this self-conscious "Britwank" as we called it..then the "headliners" were a post-Bobby Gillespie Jesus and Mary Chain.Well past their best by then. I well remember seeing the first incarnation of "Primal Screeam" at Bracknell Arts Centre, around the same time...aahhhchristheskins@headydays.com

  4. starspring says he also claims in interviews that the "album" he's releasing was partially recorded back when they were together the first time, just before the split. I would assume it would sound something akin to loveless, but really, at this point why not record something totally NEW. That material would have recorded well over a decade ago-just release it as extra tracks. its like the new Bauhaus album-they at least put out a mostly new record-new songs that don't sound like they were made 15 years ago. The other problem is that why now? Loveless is one of my favorite albums ever-but it came out in 1991. So long ago that bands that have come up and had success who cite them as influences. They may be legendary but its always a crap shoot with their shows. I saw them 3 times and it seemed like every time the sound was so loud you could barely make out the songs amidst the din. During one show they did loomer' off loveless and out of 5 people only I could figure out what song it was. Luckily I wore explugs the second time-but it also showed me how little they varied the effects when playing live-the sound was a little too thick at time. He'll have to blow people away to make this work-so much expectation after this long coupled with the massive hype and build up its sure to have. And OMG that bill is crazy! Low and Tortoise and Shellac on the same bill WITH MBV?! Dream bill anyone.

  5. Viva La Britt says Ooh. I'm not an MBV fan, but I know this is a huge deal- how sweet for their US fans. Life will not be fair unless August and Dale get to attend this.

  6. Lighter Dusk says There is actually a band called "Fuck Buttons"? That's got to be one of the coolest names I've heard in a while...so it probably means their music sucks, but hey, if I'm judging a book by it's cover then I can just consider them great based on their name alone without having to go through the time and trouble of actually listening to them... ...ther's a parallel to the current election to be drawn here, but I'll let you all connect those dots yourself. -Dusk

  8. mollifire says i agree with Augusts1 - that's cruel and asking for trouble to not provide enough tix... great lineup too!

  9. Dale says OK, so who do I have to know to get tix? How many body parts will I have to sell? Just let me know now so I can get on with this. It's either that or drain the 401K.

  10. mollifire says Dale you're a riot! if i had a 401k, i would probably drain it for a musical purpose!

  11. DaveCromwell says Glad I passed on this - waited - and now have my tix for Roseland in NYC. I can't do the "festival thing" anymore ;-)
