Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello kicked off his Justice Tour '08 at the Troubadour nightclub in Los Angeles Tuesday night (April 15), leading a lineup of guest musicians that included Velvet Revolver guitarist Slash, former Jane's Addiction leader Perry Farrell, bassist Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Davey Havok of A.F.I. and others. Tom Morello, Slash, Perry Farrell, Flea and Davey Havok Form Supergroup For Charity As with each date on the two-week tour, the show raised money for a local organization dedicated to issues of social justice. The Troubadour in Los Angeles Tuesday (April 15) night. A supergroup consisting of Tom Morello, Slash, Perry Farrell, Flea and Davey Havok(whew!) playing what is becoming the customary supergroup song Morello: "The proceeds from the show go to benefit an organization called People Assisting The Homeless — PATH — which doesn't just provide shelter and food for homeless people in Southern California," he said. "It does that, but also helps get them back on the road to not being homeless, and to be able to save money and to get affordable housing. It's really, it's a wonderful organization."

  1. bagelradio says They should have called it: Jane's Revolver Against Red Hot Fires Inside. That's what I'm calling them. So there.

  6. Augusts1 says Or they could be called Inside Addiction To Red Hot Revolver Machine! I didn't see Perry in the vid. Who is that doing the lead singing on the song?

  8. Bartleby says As always good cause doesn't necessarily rhyme with great music. Nice line-up though.

  9. Lighter Dusk says I really dig the "supergroup" concept as a whole...I think U.S.A. for Africa would certainly be one of the earlier examples. But anyhoo, they always get a lot of attention, and with the exception of the group from that damn VH1 show "Supergroup" they always seem to benefit a good cause. Are there any other half-bands looking to join up? How 'bout the remains of the Grateful Dead, Nirvana, The Doors and Smashing Pumkins team up? Now that's a right proper mash... ...What? The Pumpkins are back together already you say?...hmm, wonder how I missed that one...Oh yeah, mediocre reunions always end up in my blind spot... -Dusk

  10. GrittyMcScruff says Slash and Flea together is pretty badass...but that Davey Hovok character freaks me out. Super Group of living musicians? How about a good old Bluesy Rock n Roll lineup of Slash, Flea (or Lally from Fugazi), Keith Richards, Insert Drummer, Fronted by Glenn Danzig, or Mark Lanegan. I'd buy it.

  11. timm says Keith Richards and Danzig? Those guys are not exactly in their prime

  12. TylerDurden says GRITTY -> get Damageplan's drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott in there, smack flea in the face and take away his bass, get Keith to shoot up some MDMA and let Slash loose, put Kerry King in there somewhere and let John Mayer hold a microphone but not turn it on so people could hurl briken sharp things at him -> I'd go see that. sweet concept when a bunch of rich rockers come together and jam to raise money for anything of consequence, it shows they're not totally worthless.

  13. GrittyMcScruff says Touche but good luck forming a super group of members in their prime. Most musicians in their "prime" today suck. I'd be happy with some blues covers. Glenn can still sing with the best of em.

  15. timm says OK fair enough. Richards plays pretty well for a mummy. I heard stories about people storming out on Danzig shows a few years ago in disgust, but I found some more recent live stuff that sounded OK (although he did fall off of the stage). How about Tony Iommi and John Paul Jones? And where is Sebastian Bach in all this?

  16. GrittyMcScruff says Yeah I got screwed in that deal because of that fall. The one date Danzig no showed on the tour was the one I had tickets for. People were probably storming out because he was playing his newer material. Maybe he doesnt know he stopped making good music in '94. All the good ones are washed up. If they werent, they wouldnt be forming "super groups". Still, I'll take the washed up has beens over Davey Havok in his prime any day of the week. I would have liked to have heard what Danzig could have done with a real kick ass guitarist.

  17. Scotch says I'm trying to wrap my head around these dudes playing The Troubadour. It's a tiny hole in the wall, but it's got history. So, this was the first time they ever played together? It's pretty rough...
