WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Name A Band That Needs To TAKE A HIKE!

Posted about 1 year ago
There is a lot of music out there. Mostly, my motto is "if you don't like it, move on! Chances are you'll find something you dig."BUT! With that said let's play a little game here. What bands do you think need to take a hike, get lost, vamous, kick rocks, go blow, scram, skedaddle, mosey off into the sunset? OK! I'll start with a one:Fall Out Boy.'nuff said. How about it Moggers? What band do you think needs to take a hike?

  4. Sturgell says While were at it, I really wish that Ashlee Simpson would go blow too. The above video is of her at the Rose Bowl being booed after performing some lame song at the Rose Bowl. I really don't get this new generation....my generation. They want to be all sexy and dangerous, but then they totally play it by the books. Do you think Nico would have ever played at the Rose Bowl? Meh...

  6. nordico says Even when they were hot and I liked them (I still do...sort of), I regarded the Police as the most overrated band ever. Now they're just embarrassing, and I confuse them with Van Halen. Please go away.

  10. yummygatalover says picklesnack oops nickleback is always tops on my list. actually tie them with Creed. also Goo Goo Dolls, My Chemical Romance. yes Good Charlotte can all get on a bus that goes quickly to somewhere they can't ever find their way back from..

  11. Dave says All of the above, especially any bands that rely on guy-liner to sell themselves over their (non-existent) craft. My vote goes to Jack Johnson. Get t he f*ck out and go back to surfing, I can bore myself while you're gone.

  13. annieander says I own their 1st album...and I wish I didn't...Panic! At The Disco. That's my vote. I did junk my Mighty Mighty Bosstones from my playlist/collection, so they have already been struck from the world of music as far as I'm concerned.

  18. Oatmeal says I think they have pretty much gone underground, but I always held an extreme level of bile for Goo Goo Dolls. Like Bartleby, I could not name or hum a fall out boy song.

  19. Mike the Knife says Tool and Nickleback and, yes, Creed. And, for that matter, everyone who has ever been in Velvet Revolver and all of their original bands. Please, no reunions. (Caveat: I really like that STP song, "Sour Girl." Dunno why. Just do. Exempt that one number.)

  20. Betherz247 says Nickleback and Hinder! - That being said even though I really can't stand them I still have a very small amount of respect for them and any musicians considering it is an art and they're going their thing

  24. Davis Presley says The Eagles...please! / Pussycat Dolls / Dave Matthews...pretty please! / Anybody that gets video airtime on MTV (do they still play videos?) / Korn / Matchbox 20 / 98% of the artists currently playing "Country" music / Fall-Out Boy / Counting Crowes / Linkin Park / Any former, or current, "American Idol" contestant (thanks for dumbing down the music intelligence of a nation you D-Bag's) / Maroon 5 / Black Eyed Peas / Fergie / My Chemical Romance........ Even though they are not performers the RIAA gets a vote also. There's about a million more that I can't think of at the moment but, I do know that they suck.

  26. Scotch says KISS. Yeah, I said it. The Strokes. Yep, said that too. R Kelly, Jennifer Lopez, Sean Combs, Fergie... I could go on, but I won't. :P Oh, and, I haven't heard any band posing as "emo" these days worth a damn. You know who you are *cough* Jimmy Eat World, Dashboard Confessional, et al *cough*. Respectfully, I can't say I agree with Robin. It's easy to blame the "experts," but it's also easy to avoid the mainstream in this digital age. A generation ago, I might have been in agreement, but these days there's no excuse for bad listening habits. Blaming others is the easy way out.Your ears aren't just for dangling jewelry, and your brain isn't for keeping air out of your skull. Power to the people!

  31. darmuzz says I just went to the iTunes home page to jog my memory about bands I hate, only to find Feist, Spoon, Serena Ryder, Wintersleep, Kathleen Edwards, Sarah Slean - all of whom I like a bunch - there is so much good music out there! In the "not so much" category - Daughtry, Idol winners generally, most modern country/CMT artists (including Bon Jovi), 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, children's packaged pop (Miley Cyrus, Hilary Duff.)

  32. GrittyMcScruff says Any band associated in any way with American Idol. All the pop punk bands, hip hop/rap acts. There is nothing more to be done with rap, it peaked along time ago, wasn't that good then, isn't gonna get any better, it's tired, put it to bed. All 5000 of the minor threat rehash bands. All 2500 of the "it's cool to not know how to play your instruments, and cry like a little girl about your broken heart" punk bands. How about just about every new band since...i don't know..1997? I think it would be easier to list the bands you want to stick around, or come back. Personally just about 99.9% of the music on the radio/TV today makes me want to cry. I was born in the wrong era. waaaaaaa

  33. myonlyappeal says I agree with your choice, and I'd like to add... My Chemical Romance. When I found out they were headliners, and Muse was their opener, I was furious that such a shitty band could dare play with Muse -- and be the headliner instead of them! I'm still mad, so I nominate them for worst band ever.

  34. Robmo says You know honestly a lot of the bands on this list are fairly harmless, and because of the nature of the pop band are destined to disappear on their own soon enough, probably to be replaced by new bands that appeal to the lowest common denominator. Fall Out Boy, Ashlee Simpson, Hannah Montana are basically the equivalent of New Kids on the Block, 98 Degrees, Brittany Spears etc... Now granted in the case of Brittany she is still omnipresent, but it has little to do with her music. Those kinds of pop bands will take care of themselves. The bands that are problematic for me are the pretentious, arty, self righteous bands. Coldplay: Beat it, soulless supposedly arty stadium rock really sucks Radiohead: Take a hike, ooh your so intelligent and cerebral, ooh your music is for the thinking man, and takes chances that others would never possibly be smart enough to comprehend let alone conceive. None of that matters if your music is intrinsically uninteresting, which it is, although I did like Creep. U2: Bring your band to a merciful conclusion. Please Saint Bono, tell us where we all have gone wrong and present us as our savior. While you're at it please try to align yourself with social and music icons living and dead to try to convince us that your crappy brand of rocjk and roll is socially and musically vital. Screw that

  37. Groon says Gretty McScrugg: if you take out all American Idol associated bands, you have to say goodbye to Queen, since they were guest mentors one week. Who can take a hike? Weel, they're not active now, but if I could retroactively erase Journey's music from the world I'd be a happy man.

  40. GrittyMcScruff says Groon I did not know that, but it could have only been guys pretending to be Queen because what the fuck is Queen w/o Freddie? And yes, Journey sucks. I vote for Motley Crues discography to be banished, ultimate suck band.

  41. Lighter Dusk says Man, I hate to go all hippie on you guys, but I think even eliminating one band would deprive me the ability to over-analyze their work and find something likeable about it. For as much as I hate Britney Spears, Nickelback, My Dying Bride and several other audio offenders, taking them out of music history would mean two things. a.) I would have fewer suck bands to make ABBA seem good. b.) I would lose the joys of mocking these artists. So I guess I'll keep `em all, the good the bad and the Britney... -Dusk

  42. TylerDurden says any single female 'POP' artist -> Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Spears, Avril Levigne, I see KEZONTOURAGAIN shares my hatred for OASIS, thanks God I'm not the only one. Jack Johnson, John Mayer, Colbie Colaite (or whatever her name is), Dave Matthews Band is making me sick, I had to delete all his music from my collection, Black Sky Surrender is also out of my listening, Chris Brown, Akon, Timbaland, Eminem, 50 Cent, uhhhh, My Chemical Romance, uhhh, The Killers, if I hear one more friggin Judas Priest song on XM Liquid Metal, I'm suing. Uh, Sixpence non the richer, the new G~N~R, Buckcherry, Metallica (any album after the Black Album, they can get enjoy a hot load, and then re-load it) my brain hurts from all this nonsense! Adam, I, along with Michael(Bartleby), have never even heard of Fall out Boy. And who the hell is Panic at the disco??
