STP Reunion Round Up; Video From Press Conference, Reunion Performance

Posted about 1 year ago
It's official: Stone Temple Pilots are back."As previously reported":PR the group certified their reunion and upcoming tour at the former Los Angeles mansion of legendary magician Harry Houdini.(VIDEO BELOW)Since then, the group has confirmed a staggering 65-city North American tour, which starts May 17."The story's not finished ... there's more to be revealed and more to be told," explained Weiland. Also,"As previously reported":BU, Velvet Revolver, the super-group Weiland fronted during STP's hiatus, is no more. The group broke up recently reducing Weiland to the statements below.Weiland: This happened very organically. It wasn't people trying to angle and beg. It just happened the way it sort of happened. I got a call from Dean. I was on tour. He said, "Man, are you sitting down?" I said yeah. He said, "I was talking with our agent, and some offers came through." We'd all been starting to talk more often. I had talked to Slash, mentioned it to him, and things were cool for a while. And this last tour, things just disintegrated really badly. I just came to the point where I decided that ... if I'm going to commit the next 10 years of my life to touring ... then I want to do it with people I want to make music with. People who I get inspired by making music with. ...I have to start weeding out stuff. It's kind of like going through your closet going, "Eh, I don't need this anymore. It takes up too much space." Certain things don't feel good, although it may put money in your bank account, but it doesn't feel good at the end of the day. It became one of those situations.[PR]http://mog.com/Charley_Rogulewski/blog_post/154872[BU]http://mog.com/mollifire/blog_post/153746

  4. allenblakecassady says Those three live songs were pretty weak and had a disconnected feel to them, especially plush. Of course they haven't played in 6 years so hopefully they'll get more comfortable as the tour goes along.

  5. GrittyMcScruff says Just tour Scott. Tour, and play the only three good albums you ever created, your first 3(great ones I'd say). STP went downhill so fast in my opinion, like a trainwreck. No more new material! Stp's last 2 LPs and both VR albums sucked!

  6. Sturgell says Sure McScruff, but they did make some good music in those three albums. I think those three are a testament to the group; they had the music world paying attention to them for a while and they produce some hits in the clutch. I imagine they had to be under a lot of pressure to perform and it just wasn't fun anymore.

  7. GrittyMcScruff says Oh definately. Those first 3 are some of my fovorite albums. Don't get me wrong, I'm an stp fan, and I will go see them when they come to Boston. I'll be much happier if I don't have to listen to new live material though.

  8. loganlenz says STP has always been one of my favorite bands. Their "Vatican Gift Shop" tour in 1996 still reigns as the best live show that I have ever seen (I was only 12 at the time). Whatever they decide to do in the future, I will be waiting in the trenches, supporting them any way I can.
