The Plight Of The Beatles Wives

Posted about 1 year ago
John Lennon's widow Yoko Ono has revealed life is "not easy" for women who are associated with The Beatles.Speaking to Sky News she said: "I think all the wives did suffer, and I think quietly suffer. Suffer but endured, I would actually say."Referring to Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills' recent divorce settlement, she said she "felt sorry" for Sir Paul.Ono, 75, added that Mills needed to "do her very best and try to survive".??Ono in 2005 on the anniversary of her husband's murder??She added: "I'd not just say to her but to Paul too, it's a very difficult situation for any couple to go through, especially for people who are really out in the world and their every movement is being observed."Ono, who married Lennon in 1969, said: "All I can say is it's not very easy for a woman to be associated with The Beatles.""When I come here and see John's tiny bedroom it just chokes me up because that's where his grand dream began - and he finally realised what he was dreaming here."Lennon was shot dead outside his New York apartment by fan Mark Chapman in 1980, who will be considered for parole later this year.Ono said: "I think that it's a very hard subject for me to deal with."All things considered it's very dangerous for him to come out because there's so many people who feel badly about what happened.""More Here":CH[CH]http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7330136.stm

  3. Vtshome says Ok I shed a tear for the poor ladies, 40 mil for Heather must help the pain a little and Yoko came from a rich family she must have a few bunks to help with misery too. Give me a F#$&ing break.

  4. deadmandeadman says Yeah! They're rich, they have no feelings!

  5. Jaguwar says No amount of money can make up for people trying to pry into your private lives, ever. 40 Mil does make it hard to fee sorry for the woman (especially considering how short her stint in the "limelight" was, compared to what Yoko put up with, for instance). Still, it ain't easy being at the top. BTW Sturgell, my husband's a big fan of Mussorgsky too. He used to put on "Pictures at an Exhibition" on Saturday morning to clean house. Until I put a stop to that. too rough for a wake up call! *G*

  6. deadmandeadman says I agree, the 1812 overture is much better house-cleaning music.

  7. Scotch says Sturgell nailed it, IMO. Being that famous is a 24/7/365 job in itself.

  8. Misstee says All Heather Mills wanted was the limelight, thats why she married him, well that and his money.

  9. earthman says We make em famous, we gotta share some of the burden, um how come they dont share out the money though ? Its all pretty relative, I wonder if their tooth aches hurt less than mine do?

  10. dermahrk says Sorry, I have no sympathy for her or Heather. They made their beds. Is life that hard for Cynthia Lennon, Barbara Bach or Olivia Harrison? I don't think so, because they have class and do not trash their husbands legacies. Riches have nothing to do with it.

  11. Jonh Ingham says Actually, life is that hard for Cyntia Lennon. Yoko allegedly gives her and Julian a rough ride and she doesn't enjoy much money-wise from the estate. These days she lives in Spain and has one thing not mentioned by Yoko - happiness.

  13. Mike the Knife says It may be lonely at the top, but it's comfy. Then again, I remember Yoko's heartbreaking Peace-In era plaint, "No bed for Beatle John." Imagine being a Beatle - and not being able to get a bed. (I think a hotel didn't want the publicity, and told John & Yoko to go elsewhere. He shoulda just bought the damned hotel.)

  14. Sturgell says which hotel? The Astoria?

  15. Mike the Knife says My bad. No hotel sitch. Here are some of the "lyrics" to Yoko's spoken word dirge: "Beatle John Lennon lost his hospital bed yesterday to a patient. It happened at Queen Charlotte's Hospital, London - where John was keeping vigil in the room where his girlfriend, Yoko Ono, Is being kept under observation." She was pregnant and, fearing complications, the docs were checking her out. Lennon wanted to be by her side, and brought a sleeping bag to the hospital room when the nearby bed was needed for a sick patient.
