Posted about 1 year ago
The last time the B-52's released a studio album Texas billionaire H. Ross Perot was a Presidential eventually losing out to a young man by the name of Clinton.Recently the pioneering new wave rockers announced their first studio album in 16 years; ??Funplex?? (Astralwerks) is slated to drop March 25.Originally founded in 1976 in Athens, Georgia the B-52's have maintained a consistent sound with a fan base that spans generations. In their 30 year career, the group has released 7 albums, countless singles, and two 'best of' compilations. Produced by Steve Osborne (New Order, Happy Mondays, Doves, KT Tunstall), ??Funplex?? was recorded in Athens, GA and with all 11 songs written by Kate Pierson, Fred Schneider, Keith Strickland and Cindy Wilson. ??Funplex?? finds the band in "vigorous, forward stance," while staying true to the party-rock form which has influenced such current bands as LCD Soundsystem, Interpol and The Scissor Sisters. Also,The band have been touring nonstop, recently making a triumphant return to Europe after a 10 year absence, headlining Spain's Benicassim Festival and the London Lovebox Festival this past summer. Last year fans in the US got a sneak peak at ??Funplex?? with live performances on 10/31 at Roseland Ballroom in NYC and 11/16 at The Roxy in Los Angeles. ??FUNPLEX?? TRACK LIST1. Pump2. Hot Corner3. 12. Lighter Dusk says Yes!!! The B-52's are a slice of Americana that I personally can't get enough of. Saw them live in St. Louis a few years back...they still rocked the Love Shack then, so I'm looking forward to a new slew of tunes.

  13. Konkrypton says I'm showing my age here, but I remember when they premiered on Saturday Night Live many years ago. They performed "Rock Lobster" and I thought they were a scream! Later, I fell head-over-heels in love with the "Cosmic Thing" album. Fred and the girls can kick out some fun tunes. Hooray for the '52's!

  15. Phoenix6066 says I've been a B-52s fan since I danced to "Planet Claire" ("Why won't you dance with me? I ain't no limberger!") as a freshman in college in the winter of 1979 at a "beach party" in the NYU Brittany dorm at 10th and Broadway in NYC's Greenwich Village. I grew up and came out with them. And, every ten years or so, they make a major splash and encourage everyone to party again. Great concerts, too! I can't wait to hear the new disc. Hopefully, it'll reflect their best, like: Love Shack, Roam, Summer of Love, etc. Yeah, you get older, but you can keep rockin'!
