Are Morrissey's Comments Racist?

Morrissey is suing British music magazine NME for defamation, claiming the publication twisted his words in a recent interview to make him appear racist.Morrissey was quoted by the magazine as saying he would no longer live in Britain because an "immigration explosion" was stripping his native land of its identity."The gates are flooded, and anybody can have access to England and join in," he reportedly said."Other countries have held on to their basic identity yet it seems to me that England was thrown away."According to a statement on his official Website (true-to-you.net), Morrissey demanded that NME issue a public apology for the piece by Thursday. When the magazine failed to come through, he initiated legal proceeding
NME fired back:"We can confirm we have received two writs from Morrissey's legal representatives pertaining to NME and its editor Conor McNicholas," a spokesman for the magazine said on Friday."NME takes this matter—and the issues it highlights—extremely seriously, and we are currently in discussion with our own legal representatives."McNicholas defended the piece, saying that it was not intended to portray Morrissey as a racist."Obviously no one is accusing Morrissey of racism—that would be mad given what Morrissey says—but we do say that the language Morrissey uses is very unhelpful at a time of great tensions," McNichols said."MORE HERE":CH[CH]http://news.yahoo.com/s/eonline/20071130/en_music_eo/1a2e7b3194a9_41d5_9402_b659b826371a

He says things that most British, Canadian, American (well those are the only three I've lived in so can't say for others) born only say amongst themselves...so what? this is such boring nonsense -- you want to see hate? Live in a Latino community(and I actually REVERE Latino culture for the most part -- they are loving nurturing people to whom I feel more than a slight affinity), use that goo between your ears and learn enough Spanish to comprende, and listen to the blatant preference for people with 'light' skin. Yo escuchar coma un poco inocente de espionaje social aparente. I also rather enjoyed being talked about as though I have no listening abilities when in any ethnic group 'oh her? no, she's not one of us -- she's just a white girl" Which I sadly sort have to take as a compliment because j@#k off caucasions always were (not as much now) asking whether I was , oh the kindness of random adults to little kids, "a beaner" -- nice huh? I was also told that I was a 'commie nazi bi@#h" ...when I was nine. That one was because my mother is Armenian (though NEVER even visted the communist occupied Armenia having been born in Syria) and my father is a sixth or so generation American of northern European backround (mostly in and around Germany). You gotta admit --unless you yourself have been targeted as an individual and know how bad that feels -- and without really thinking things out -- than please do shut up as we all have opinions ...very often they are like bum holes and they really stink. Other times they are more 'in line' with what is 'acceptable' in whatever bs society one happens to be living in at the moment...what pisses me off is these rank amateur immigrants -- Armenians and Jews -- we are the great adapters -- keeping our own cultures but seamlessly able to 'fit in'whatever place we are living in. It's about respect. I lived in the UK for many years and have to say that MANY of the immigrants I saw were extremists -- people that even my mom's muslim friends wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. It really is terrible when they whine and complain about how they shouldn't be 'made fun of' when the wear that gross woman hating black ghost looking thing with the creepy-beyond-belief-makes-any-decent-human-think-'TALIBAN!' metal gate posts covering even most of their eyes-- this whilst shopping in Oxford st. at blooming TopShop! My mom was probably the loudest of all at how aghast she was at this level of extremism in a NON MUSLIM country. She always talks of how things were getting more modern in the middle east back in the 60's but then all the extremists took over and it's gone back to the dark ages! If you go to Heathrow airport you WILL be hard pressed to see ANY people who are not wearing sheets. I wouldn't mind it EXCEPT THAT IF I WORE MY CLOTHING THAT IS OF 'MY SACRED CULTURE 'BLABLA BLAAAA -- IN THEIR COUNTRY ---GUESS WHAT? THERE WOULDN'T BE A BUNCH OF MENTAL MASTURBATORS WHO THINK THEY ARE SO F-ING HIGH AND MIGHTY AND PATIENT posting things here- NO INSTEAD, IF I WANTED TO WEAR MY CLOTHES IN THEIR NATIVE LANDS -- I WOULD BE KILLED! so please please please -- unless you have been and lived in other cultures and other places and have experienced it --- please DO SHUT UP! shut your pie hole and your stink hole while your at it...it isn't racism when it irritates you to see people who don't respect the culture of the country that was kind enough to take them in when we (here in the USA) most likely stamped a BIG PROUD OL' DENIED! on their little application. I really feel for Britain in that, from my five years living there -- I came round to understanding the reality is so often different from what one initially thinks. When you have these creepy zealots forcing little toddler girls to wear sheets and buttons saying 'death to the west' it begins to dawn on you that it isn't racism but rather -- anti extremism. Most people can get through to that understanding -- however, I am tired of this -- wasted time -- on brainwashed extremists...errrrrrr!!! whether they be tear away mormon sects or these islamic fools -- extremism SUCKS!
