QOTSA Get Forcibly Removed From Rehab Clinic

Posted over 4 years ago
Last week, Queens Of The Stone Age scheduled an intimate show for residents of an unnamed rehab clinic in the Los Angeles area, but the event ended with the group being "manhandled out of the building by heavy security" during the first song. The group opened the charity set with their tune "Feel Good Hit Of The Summer," a song which features the lyrics "Nicotine, valium, vicodin, marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol... c-c-c-c-c-cocaine". Staff at the clinic immediately pulled the plug while security removed the group without negotiation."NME":CH[CH]http://www.nme.com/news/32517

  1. indiepixie says haha i am not surprised. hilarious tho. i always wonder if the bands really respect most of the 'charities' they get paid to play for, or just don't give a *@&@!*. These guys just dont give a *@&!!$%

  2. Sturgell says Man, that had to be the pits for the people at the clinic. I imagine it's hard enough to try and get clean without QOTSA screaming in your face “Nicotine, valium, vicodin, marijuana, ecstasy and alcohol… c-c-c-c-c-cocaine”. That the rehab clinic must have a good security team, Homme is a pretty big dude.

  5. bassguitarhero says Lol if I was in the rehab clinic I would have booed the staff, don't take away Queens of the Stone Age! That would be like my one amazing joy of being in rehab.

  9. Sturgell says bassguitarhero- "don’t take away Queens of the Stone Age!" I can imagine the scene being a full blown fiasco. I wouldn't be surprised if people started screaming, flipping over tables, and running about with their arms out stretched over their heads while big security men in clean white uniforms scoop them up and return them back to their receptacles. We're talking about junkies.

  11. TylerDurden says I went to rehab in Washington DC, Capitol Heights, during many of our church services in our house, drug deals went down by our fence....one time at a christian singing event in our front yard trying to reach the black people walking down Central Ave, a group of young teens were taking hits off the blunt 20 feet away....then right before I graduated on to the second phase and move to pennsylvania, a 13 year old african american boy was shot 3 times in the back and died outside our kitchen door....so adversity in the attempt of getting clean makes you stronger.....It would have been cooler if DimeBag Darrell played at my rehab though, drinking some crown royal ...... Jack's untimely perseverance of sobriety, Tyler Durden

  13. James12 says wow, so they weren't paid to do this, and they got kicked out? I don't know how to feel, mixed emotions, anyway, QotSA is a great band, but maybe that song wasn't appropiate at rehab clinic, I don't know, great post, see ya, James.

  15. Tony Scalzo says That song being one of the Queens' most popular I think maybe they should have thought before booking them. I have been in rehabs before, both as patient and performer. I would have loved to hear that song at full volume if I was stuck in there! Rock and roll always helps take the edge off!

  16. The Echo People says Dude, their stoners, why would the management think they'd behave at a rehab ! But to push them off stage is ridiculous, what did they want to write their set list too. Good job Homme and Troy.

  17. thebodyoflight says :clap. clap. clap. real mature. it's just like. homme wanted to cheer them up with an inside joke, and the orderlies were like, "we're gonna piss all over these guy's parade". but they had it coming. should have closed with it. oh well. haha. nice. great tune. qotsa do have some rock for their all mighty roll. desert sessions is worth checking out. has anyone heard them? the other bands they play with are interesting i think eathings? that might be one of them, my mind is a bit fuzzy on that at the moment. but mak lannegan i think (think) is amazing. the force is clearly not with this one right now.
