Rare Aretha Franklin Sees The Sun ; A Definitive Collection

Aretha Franklin has unearthed previously unreleased material for her upcoming ??Rare and Unreleased Recordings from the Golden Reign of the Queen of Soul?? collection via archival specialist Rhino Records.The double-disc will be released October 16, featuring B-sides, demos and outtakes from Franklin's 13-year history with Atlantic Records.The first disc chronicles the Queen of Soul's initial rise at Atlantic and features previously unreleased tunes "You Keep Me Hanging On," "Trying To Overcome," and "My Way," a rare cover of the Beatles' "Fool on the Hill" and demo versions of "I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You)," "Dr. Feelgood (Love Is a Serious Business)" and "Sweet Bitter Love."The second disc contains a duet with Ray Charles on "Ain't but the One," which was originally televised in a tribute to Duke Ellington. It also includes an alternate version of "Rock Steady" and outtakes from the "Young, Gifted and Black" and "Hey Now Hey (The Other Side of the Sky)" sessions.Aretha Franklin on the "The Cliff Richard Show," 1970.   2. oliverpenn says There has never been, or probably never will be another like Aretha Franklin in her heyday! Her driving gospel piano was nearly as important as her miraculous voice. I've seen her many times when beautifully groomed people came in, were destroyed by her singing and left the concert hall as if they had been in battle. I've heard "My Way" and it's wonderful, I just didn't like the way it ended and that's probably why it never got released. I can't wait to hear the rest of this magical material.
