Won't you please, climb my Black Mountain?

Why haven't I heard of these guys until now?? This band kicks some major ass! This is why I love music... Day after day I can listen to such repetitive garbage and then BING! BANG! BOOOOM! Black Mountain falls from the sky. Their sound is very much classic rock with a modern psychedelic chocolate fudge twist. The leader of the band Stephen McBean (check out his other band Pink Mountaintops) has been criticized as pretty much imitating his influences. Well guess what, his influences are fucking awesome! This is what more bands need to be doing. Listen to the legends..take what you need from them...then listen to their influences and you just may create something worth listening to.

  1. foolonthehill says Pink, Black, all kinds of beautiful Mountains. woohoo, trippin out! and you're right, it's really what you do with your influences, because it's virtually impossible to not be influenced or inspired by someone or something. Unless, of course, you're Scotty Stapp who claims he only listens to his own music . . . that narcissism really did wonders for him, huh? I'm thinking of starting a Creed coverband called The Drunken Stapps, you want in?! I'll add Comets on Fire and Howlin' Rain to that list of fresh new psychedelia. All great stuff. I'm the Druganaut Biiiitch.
