People, do yourself a favour and check out the new album by Blonde Redhead called "23". It is wonderful. Here's a band who started out as a very arty sounding New York noise band, and have evolved into this mysterious wonder of sonic pleasure. I saw them at the Halifax Pop Explosion in 1994, when they were a little bit more noisy. I said to myself, "self, this may be as close as I get to a Sonic Youth concert". Wow, they were good. They have put out several great albums since, but once they signed to 4AD, they have developed by leaps & bounds. Their album "Misery Is A Buttefly" (2004), was a stunning masterpiece, and holds it's own amoung 4AD's Hall of Fame. I highly recommend it. It boggles my mind how 3 people can create such lush arrangements. Even live clips of the band sound really great & full. I am going to attach their latest video here for you to enjoy. They are sort of like a hidden gem for me in that not a lot of people seem to be aware of their output when I ask people about them.
