For Hip-Hop Thursday this week, I'm doing something different. I'm posting some instrumental hip-hop tracks.
The first of, at minimum, three tracks today is from what is arguably the best hip-hop instrumental album ever, Donuts by the late, great J. Dilla. I think it's a masterpiece. The last album I listened to as much as this one when I first heard it was Radiohead's OK Computer.
Anyway, this track is one of the album's best. It samples the music of Raymond Scott and although I was amazed by this song when I first heard it, I was even more impressed when I heard the source material. Dilla took some really abstract sounds and turned them into a great beat. Man, is he missed.
Look for another instrumental track from someone different later.

The Beastie Boys have done some awesome instrumentals as well. I love cut'n'paste style stuff. Thanks sterfish :)

very cool addition, while the lyrics can be great, I always enjoy a good instrumental
