WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

The After

First of all the whole traveling 6 hours to Portland was well worth it. Even if it was only for a day. My friend and I had an enormous amount of fun that was well, fun. Very liberating mind you.Second, the concert was...alright to say the least. I enjoyed the opening bands much more so than Hella. I don't remember the first warm-up band but The Dirty Projectors, who played second, were quite amazing. They completely surprised me on the quality of their sound. We knew they were opening so we listened to them on the way and their published music is a stark contrast to what they performed for us live. I prefer their live music to the recorded. The recorded is just too dreamy and slow for me. I suggest you check them out to see what they're all about. Now on to Hella. I didn't really care for the bits and pieces I heard before hand but when they played all I wanted to do was to leave. Concerts are loud but when you have a loud band play loud music that has no coherance you get bleeding ears. I swear to god by the end of it there was definitaly liquid running out of my ears. Even though I think that noise music sucks ass I do however marvel at their ability to know every note and chord at any given time considering the fact that it sounds just like a bunch of random slams on the drums and strums on the guitar. Kudos to them.
