Double Standards.
It is a sad day indeed when we find ourselves surrounded by news headlines giving comfort to our enemies in a time of war. Those sad days become even worse when we realize that American civilians took the risk to go and better a war torn Iraq through the means of constructive progress only to lose their lives in the most brutal ways immagineable at the hands of terrorists.Today we learned that 7 marines are facing 1st degree murder charges for the death of an Iraqi civilian they believed knew exclusive details pertaining to the placement of terrorist IED's (roadside bombs). If there is a line to be drawn in any of this, where do we lay the chalk? They murder our civilians whom are there for no purpose other than to provide assistance to an area that so obviously needs it. Our civilians "choose" to go there to further the progress of what will someday (hopefully) be a thriving democracy.Where am I going with all of this?... I'll wrap it up.They murder our civilians, they chop off their heads, they hang their bodies from public bridges... and the outcry in America is nothing more than a ticker line for our major media outlets. Our American soldiers take it upon themselves to kill an Iraqi "civilian" because they honestly believed he knew exclusive details pertaining to their survival. While the Iraqi murderers are simply passed off as a part of the every day insurgency... our soldiers find themselves with their feet to the fire, at the mercy of military tribunals. While the insurgents walk free, our brave men face prison or pehaps death simply for doing what they felt needed to be done to protect their own lives. Double standards... you bet.
