WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Jesus Walking On The Water

I finally gut to see a band I've wanted to see for many years now. And it was well worth the wait.I am speaking, of course, of The Violent Femmes. They started off with Out Of The Window and got the croud going right away. I have to hand it to Gordon and the gang, after 25 years together they still have it. I haven't had this much fun watching a live band in years. If they're coming your way you have to watch the show. Just watch out for weird drunk guys hitting on your sisters while doing bad Christopher Walken impressions.

  1. Zeroskilz says They put on a great show. Even after all these years, their music still sounds fresh and very original. I got to seem them again this year. My first time was back in '94 or '95 (a while back ago) when they put on an all-ages show here in Indy. My girlfriend and I drove down from college to see the show. Little did we know what kind of frenzied mob we were putting ourselves in the way of. We took a beating but enjoyed the show anyway. The band took a beating too when some @sshole threw a shoe at Gordon. This prompted an immediate walkoff by the band. About 5 minutes later they came back and threatened to leave if it happened again. A decade later, I'm happy to report that the crowd had matured and the entire show went on without a hitch. They've only gotten better with age. I would definitely recommend seeing them to everyone.

  2. Spooner says There no incidents like that last night, thankfully. Someone threw ice at the opening band. I don't even remember who they were but they didn't fit the vibe so I guess people were mad. Luckily there were no shoes or suckers (like that infamous picture of David Bowie).

  3. Zeroskilz says I don't think I know the pic you are referring to. You have a link? I was at a concert one year (one of those gigs sponsored by a local station) where the station manager got on stage right before the headliner to pimp the station to the crowd. Someone in the crowd threw a shoe and nailed the guy in the face. He had to be escorted off stage. I felt bad for the guy, but I couldn't help but laugh. I think it was a Toadies / Nixons concert. The best thing about it was they played Soul Couging (Ruby Vroom)over the PA between bands. First I'd heard them, and it really set the hook deep. I'd kind of forgotten about it until now. Thanks for the post.
