Here's a Richard Thompaon song rendered by Del and the Boys. A genius song choice performed without irony. Which highlights the irony of such a greasy, urban epic done in this band's impecable Bluegrass style. Old and modern, country and jazz. They drive this sometimes frankly humorous story directly to the heart. As I think it was intended by Thompson.
Other standouts on this album: Learnin' the Blues; All Aboard; Recovering Pharisee; Gone, But Not Forgotten; etc

Richard Thompson, of course, wrote the song juxtapositing his modern outlaw tale, with language suggesting an old british folk ballad. He's another genius. And really able to pull it off.
my father loves richard t. hes actually a blessing, because if i need to buy my dad a gift, anything thompson related will put a huge smile on his face!
Amen!
what a marvelous cover! they indeed do a standout job
Also, I like how his voice is in the foreground enough so it really stands out. The whole band is a tight human machine.
