In time for Halloween, Camper Van Beethoven's version of "Oh, Death" from "Our Beloved Revolutionary Sweetheart. One of my deasert island disks. It's a traditional American song you might have heard in "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" performed by Ralph Stanley. I have a Vangard record of a performance by Dock Boggs at the Newport Folk Festival.
Funny how my profile page says I'm a Mogger since September 23, 2008. But my first comment was October 10. It was a watershed moment for me. Over the years, I had Googled Ruth Copeland every now and then to find out if "I Am What I Am" had been reissued and affordable. I landed on Cody B's July 2007 Under the Covers post of her Rolling Stones "Play With Fire" recording. I contributed a comment on Oct. 10 relating my feelings about the music and the artist and her Baltimore area appearances. A bunch of others jumped in and Cody gave me a very gracious welcome. This was key. It was not a closed club. It's hard to estimate how joining Mog has affected me and how I have enjoyed hearing what others post and having others dig on what I post. Much Love to all of you.
Reading over that thread, I find mentions of Eddie Hazel and Betty Davis. I hadn't gone there before. But I'm pickin' up on the Funk, now. Davis has a recent reissue, "Is This Love Or Desire?" It's killer, really killer! And a bunch of Hazel's work is available too.
Also, hooray, a new reissue of Copeland's two albums is scheduled for release October 13. I'm jumpin' on this! It has all of the songs, including Un Bel Di, which was left off of the earlier reissues. (Also, there are five bonus cuts consisting of the "single version" of some songs. I'm not sure why these are important. We'll see.)

Your avatar sums it up - someone spreading knowledge, humour, music or maybe a bit of hot air...someone listening. It's nice to know you and I always enjoy your posts and comments.
dmdm: That makes it all worth while.
Sam: Feels that way to me too. I can't get over that it's a year already. It's funny how my friends here make me feel like I'm not the new kid.
Anna: I have the same vision. As a storyteller, this is my busy season. So who knows what evil lurks? Bwhahahaha!
Jonh: I am honored. These are my goals, hot air and all. Hot air can be fun. And listening. There is a lot worth hearing and learning about from all of my trusted friends here. The painting is "A Tale From The Decameron" by John Waterhouse.
Happy number 1! Stick around, it's only going to get better with the likes of you here.
Thanks, Rx. I've got a mind to do just that.
