You can't help getting cought up in this tour de force performance. Intimate and powerful. Beautiful and so powerful you almost feel afraid to let go. Swept up in abandon to the irrisistable power of love. "Don't you know you're life itself? Like a leaf clings to a tree, oh my love cling to me. For we are creatures of the wind, and wild is the wind! You touch me and I hear the sound of mandolins. You kiss me and with your kiss my life begins." Wow!
The song says, "I hear mandolins." I also hear cimbalom. Compare George Ioan Miu of the Romanian Gypsy band Taraful Ciuleandra:
Nina Simone is not only the heart and soul of song, she's also a top notch pianist. She started out playing organ in church, then studied at Julliard to become a classical concert pianist. While at Julliard, she played at night in jazz clubs to earn money and her career path changed. Listen again to this song and go on to her extended solo on "Love Me Or Leave Me".

I just can't stop!
"Wild Is The Wind" is my favorite Nina Simone cut, and that is saying quite a bit....
Love Nina..I wish someone would order up her disjointed catalog and give it a proper reissue/remaster. She deserves it.
