Track:I'm Glad
I can't think of a better reggae singer than Delroy Wilson. Check out his song "I'm Glad" from a 1972 or 1973 session. (Baudolino's recent Delroy Wilson post features other songs from this session.)

"I'm Glad" is actually a variant of the song "At Last (I Found a Love)" that Marvin Gaye co-wrote and recorded for his 1968 In the Groove album. When Tamla released this album, it hadn't noticed that the song that comes just before "At Last," which was "I Heard It Through the Grapevine," had any hit potential, and it wasn't among the five songs listed on the album cover. When it became Motown's greatest hit ever, they renamed the album after it, with a different cover. Marvin Gaye: "At Last (I Found a Love)":

nice one Spike
Thank you, you two.
You *might* want to look at the title of your post, Spike.....
I had not been familiar with the origins of this tune - thanks
Nice. It seems like the chances of me liking Reggae are increased when it's not Bob Marley.
Baudolino, Doh!!!! I always confuse Delroy Wilson with Dennis Brown, but now I resolve not to ever again. Thank you for tipping me off about my tipping myself off a cliff.
dermahrk, Marley's "Waiting in Vain" isn't so horrendous, or is it?
Probably haven't heard it. I realized a while ago that while I thought I didn't like reggae, mainly I just don't respond to most of Bob Marley. I don't loathe him or anything, just don't get it.
