WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

I'm doing this for one reason only.

OH! Premature vacation call! Before I begin, let me give a shout-out to some records that didn't make the top 10 but that I liked plenty enough to mention, otherwise known as some "honorable mentions" up in this:The Flying Luttenbachers - CataclysmLiars - Drum's Not DeadMatmos - The Rose Has Teeth in the Mouth of a BeastMomus - Ocky MilkOOIOO - TaigaScritti Politti - White Bread, Black BeerStereolab - Fab Four SutureCaetano Veloso - CeRespect. And this here gets its very own category of honorable mention, since according to me, this album came out in 2003 (ballbearings pinatas), but to the world at large it was 2006 (Paw Tracks). This would fall at #2 (maybe even #1??) of my list this year if it didn't carry such 2003 heft for me:Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti - House ArrestRespect. Okay, so this top 10 is in some semblance of the order it should be in. #1 is solid, with a bullet. It moved me the most. The rest is just awesome, basically.10. Extra Golden - Ok-Oyot System9. Sean Smith, Adam Snider, Matt Baldwin - Berkeley Guitar8. Dirty Projectors - New Attitude EP7. His Name Is Alive - Detrola6. The Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury5. John Acquadro - Background Music (download this entire album here)4. The Fiery Furnaces - Bitter Tea3. Andrew W.K. - Close Calls with Brick Walls (listen to this entire album streaming here; use the small arrows at the bottom to get to it)2. The Roots - Game Theory1. J Dilla - DonutsSo, I'd like to think you haven't seen half of these (at least) on a top 10 list this year... and for those you have seen, others will ruminate... but especially and most importantly... and this is the only reason I'm posting this whole list... you must note the position ofANDREW W.K.Yes, I believe this means one thing: I firmly place Andrew W.K. in the slot of best rock recording artist of 2006.That is all.
