When my daughter, Elizabeth, died almost a year ago, my band went into the studio and recorded a song I had written for her. The idea was that the proceeds from the song would go to a scholarship foundation we created in my daughter's name. When I posted about it here a bunch of Moggers went off an bought the single. Which was such a beautiful thing. Truly amazing.

Now that Mog allows us to post songs here, In thought I would upload it and let people have a listen. If you like it, and you want to buy it, it's on itunes and all the proceeds go to The Elizabeth Lulu Scholarship Foundation. www.lizzielulu.com

Liz's sister is due one month from today. Her name will be Zoe. Chosen mainly for the "Z" so we could pay tribute to my 13 year old who so wanted to have a sister. The logo was designed by my lead guitarist and I just think it's really cool.

Thank you for sharing this. I think it's wonderful that you've channeled the pain into such a worthwhile cause. Keep us posted about Miss Zoe! Congratulations

Today I had the satisfaction of completing Guitar Hero 2 on Expert. Ah....feels good. I still can't get Cowboys from Hell on the first one, but no matter......I crushed Freebird and had to ice my arm down......fucker hurts!

While thinking about what songs I would like to play on GH3 I found myself thinking about this old Queen song.

Jazz was kind of the lost Queen album. After the monstrous success of News of the World and before the mega-success of The Game came Jazz. Poorly reviewed by Cream for calling itself "jazz" and not being jazzy proving just how dumb Cream was) it didn't sell as well as the others. And it was a harbinger of things to come. There were some disco-y tracks like More of that Jazz and Don't Stop me Now (which is one of my favorite songs of all time). T

he album was known mostly for Fat Bottomed Girls and Bicycle Race. No one even mentioned that the opening track is a barn burner with completely arabic lyrics (Mustapha. Awesome!) And listeners barely made it through the tripe of Jealousy (awful) and If You can't Beat them (continuing Queen's tradition of lyrical lazyness) to get to the second side.

Side two opens with this piece of genius. A riff heavy blues-metal attack written by Brian May. No one even talks about, let alone covers it. It's a relic. But, if you like Queen (or think you know them from their hits) you will love this track.

Jazz is easily one of my favorite albums. Don't Stop Me Now, Dead on Time, Mustapha, Bicycle Race, Fat Bottomed Girls.... Love this album. But,I love Queen, they could do no wrong. I even love Hot Space...

I have only recently begun my rediscovery of Queen. I used to listen to them a lot, but kind of went off on another tangent for awhile...but wow, they're just so undeniably good.

With all the talk about GnR possibly reuniting, it got me thinking about the day our Rhythm Guitarist, David, came to rehearsal with the first original musical offering of his own composition. I had lyrics already and it worked so well that we had the song ready for the next gig. It was going to be the centerpiece of our ep but when we decided to make it a full album instead, this song became the "side two opener". The first half of the album was very short, punk/pop/rock offerings and as the CD progressed the songs got longer and more AOR. Dave loves GNR, KISS, Aerosmith and Lynrd Skynrd. None of these bands get any airplay in my home so it was really interesting to see how two very disparate styles would merge. I still like the song. I hope you do, too.
