No wall between the music

DJ Kentaro is essentially the reason that I love turntablism. A lot of people aren't so fond of the genre because it is based entirely around taking the sound of others and rearranging it to make something different, if still noticeable, but when it comes to amazing musicians like DJ Kentaro, it becomes all about skill, as far as I'm concerned.I love turntablism simply as a musical style - it's taken a life of its own, especially recently, in our twenty-first century. It showcases a special skill that is quickly rising up in a musical revolution, and turns a tool that was previously a method by which people listened to instruments and voices, into an instrument itself. This particular track, entitled 'Introduction', or 'Shuriken Cut', is the first track to the Ninjatune turntablism compilation, 'On the Wheels of Solid Steel', a personal favorite of mine, which gets no small amount of playtime while I ride the steel rails of the Japanese train system in my MP3 player. Ninjatune is the record label that produces many of my beloved musical artists, and when they cut their recent deal with Kentaro, a musical surgeon of the land of the rising yen, they did a beautiful thing.

  1. Danage says Nice. I will have to check that compilation out. No doubt you've heard of Birdy Nam Nam, the four piece cut crew from France. They take turntabalism that bit further in my opinion.
