Koreans have more Clazz.

Or, "Clazziquai revisited". I spoke about this band right about when I started my MOG account some number of moons ago, but recently 'rediscovered' them, when going through a handful of CDs. I think I may have to start counting Clazziquai among the top bands on my personal top-list.

I find bands that actually make good use of the voice continue to be elusive. I've never really been one for lyrical music - I don't hate it, but I don't go out of my way to find something that I can sing along with (even though I kill 'em dead in karaoke, if I do say so myself).

I was commenting in some otherwise irrelevant conversation recently that you just really don't hear people harmonizing anymore. I'm not sure if it's some sort of alpha dog superiority thing, where a singer wants to be the one running the show, or if people just can't find other vocalists who compliment their own voices, but it seems we've come upon a rash of singular singers recently. I think if people were more cooperative, musically, I'd enjoy lyrical music more.

With a lovely one-two punch of well-honed man and woman vocalists, thrown together with a few nice retro-feeling synths, Clazziquai Project's "Love Mode" track (featuring the hip-hop stylings of Korean rap artist 타블로 - Tablo) has made it to the top of my playlist, and other tracks are having trouble ousting it recently.

Enjoy, and if you like it, keep an eye out for their albums. Some folks consider them hit or miss, but I'd be hard pressed to find a track that I wasn't a fan of.

And as an added bonus, a remix of the same track, featuring Japanese rapper m-flo (It's strange when two second languages mix, especially when you know one a whole lot better than another). Probably the first song I can think of off the top of my head that contains words from three separate languages.

Have a good'n.
