WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

Baby Huey, where have you been all my life?

Posted over 2 years ago
Kicking around iTunes the other night I ran across this album and was so intrigued I had to email it to myself to make sure it was for real. Tonight, I bought it and have been listening in awe. After some background reading online, I learned that Baby Huey was somewhat of a local favorite on the Chicago scene but because of a glandular disease that caused him to weigh in at about 4 bills and a problem with psychedelic drugs caused him to die when he was 26 years old.Anyway, I could go on and on about how much I'm digging this shit right now, but I think you should just find some clips online and check it out for yourself. The band is incredible and Baby Huey killing me here. I mean this guy's got some lungs. This album was his only recording from what I can tell, and it was produced by Curtis Mayfield (a few songs are by him as well) and the style is similar, though I am hearing things I ain't never heard before. He can sing. Really well. Why are you still reading this? Go listen to some music!

  1. mickimicki says I'll check that one out for sure. I only know "Listen To Me", which is one of my all time steaming hot party favourites right up there with stuff like Curtis Mayfield's "Get Down" or Jimmy Castor Bunch's "It's Just Begun". Thanks for inspiring me to dig a little deeper!
