WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Fayard and Harold Nicholas

Posted over 3 years ago
My first exposure to music was tap lessons when I was three years old. When you're that young, you really just try to learn your right foot from left to music. I stuck with it for about 13 years and with the help of my mom (who was also my teacher), developed an appreciation of many of the great tap dancers. The Nicholas Brothers, Fayard and Harold, performed in many movies, the most famous routine being this, from "Stormy Weather." The first bit is Cab Calloway's band, and about a minute and a half in, the Nicholas Brothers join in the fun.

  1. Kate says Man, 13 years is a long time to study tap! I only made it about 2 years when I was quite little. I remember loving the loud noises I could make more than the actual dancing part of it. Tap is very cool, thanks for the great video.

  2. mktackabery says so solid, and so brilliant. They never got their props either, always treated like a side act.
