The Beatles Are Trying To Prevent Release Of Bootleg Recordings From 1962

Posted about 1 year ago
The Beatles played a special show at the Star Club in Hamburg Germany in 1962, just one month before the band signed with EMI's Parlaphone label. Apparently the club recorded the show, but never released it. The recording resurfaced earlier this year and now Fuego Entertainment wants to release it. Apple Corps and Apple Records (the Beatles' own companies, not the computer/iTunes company) just filed a lawsuit to prevent this recording from being released, stating that the club was not authorized to record and did not have permission from anyone in the band to record that night. According to a Billboard article, the recordings are considered bootlegs:
Apple says the recordings have already proven to be bootlegs. In 1991, Apple sued Sony Music Entertainment in New York to stop release of some Star-Club recordings. Sony agreed to a consent order not to release certain recordings after hearing testimony from band members.

  1. Charley Rogulewski says Think how rich the Grateful Dead would be if they got paid for every bootleg ever recorded. The Beatles need to layoff. Sure McCartney jsut lost 50 million to his ex- one-legged wife, but the dude still has a ton of cash.
