My Brightest Diamond Ready To Release 2nd Album In June

Posted about 1 year ago
My Brightest Diamond is finishing a sophomore release, the follow up to 2006's Bring Me The Workhorse. The new album is called A Thousand Shark's Teeth and it will be released on Asthmatic Kitty (Sufjan Stevens' label) on June 17th if all goes well. According to a report in Prefix Mag today:
Worden grabbed from disparate sources to craft the album, as "Black and Costaud" features lyrics lifted from an opera by Maurice Ravel, while "Like a Sieve" samples a Tricky song. Shark's Teeth was recorded in New York City, Los Angeles, and Berlin and mixed by Husky Hoskulds, who has worked with Elvis Costello and Tom Waits.
Pitchfork reported that some of the cuts on the upcoming album have been in the works for 6 years, long before the release of Workhorse. They added:
In addition to Worden's formidable piano and guitar work, the set is peppered with vibraphones, French horns, harps, clarinets, marimbas, and even a sample of trip-hop maestro Tricky.
