Peter Moren of Peter Bjorn and John is getting ready for the release of his debut solo album, The Last Tycoon. Peter recorded the album throughout the years he spent writing, recording and touring with supergroup Peter Bjorn and John. The album's press release calls it, "an intimate 10-track collection of delicate and introspective songs from one of the most promising young storytellers of the decade." Peter Moren's explains on his myspace page:
The press release describes the results of Peter's toil:
Peter of Peter Bjorn And John decided he wanted to do something without Bjorn and John. Partly because he had some songs he wanted to take in another direction. Partly because he had the time to do it. A lot of people helped. To thoose he are eternally grateful! Daniel Värjö and Tobias Fröberg helped to record in apartments and rehearsal spaces and played a little. Leo Svensson, Nicklas Korsell, Mattias Areskog, Mattias Ståhl, Lisa Rydberg and Anne Pajonen played some as well. But as often as possible Peter played it all himself, though when it came to drummachines maybe he should'nt have! Joachim Ekerman (producer/mixer of Blood Music, Jenny Wilson etc.) has mixed most of the album and Peter also did some mixes lately in Hoboken, New Jersey with Matt Azzarto at the Think Tank Studio. Now it seems it's almost, almost finished. Exciting! It's about time!
The press release describes the results of Peter's toil:Recorded and mixed over two years in tiny apartments and rehearsal studios in Sweden and the U.S., The Last Tycoon is built around the basic foundation of Peter and his guitar. The album has a distinctly homemade feel that feeds from the folk singer-songwriter tradition but still incorporates strings, synthesizers, vibraphones, percussion, a musical saw, and even a drum machine or two.Quarterstick Records will release the highly anticipated solo album from Peter Moren on April 8th. Meanwhile you can hear him perform his charming folk-pop at SXSW in March or L.A. tomorrow (Jan 30th 8pm). Cover art for The Last Tycoon will be out later this week.L.A. show details and music here:http://www.myspace.com/petermorn
