Saul Williams Announces The Tar Spangled Banner Tour
-
Artist:
Saul Williams has plotted a course for his "The Tar Spangled Banner Tour" in support of his latest album, The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust! The album was produced by Trent Reznor and released online by FADER Mag's record label in a pay-what-you-please scheme similar to what Radiohead did with their new album. It is available 100% DRM-free from NiggyTardust.com and includes PDF artwork. Williams describes his creation as:

"The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust! is the lovechild of Trent and me," says Williams. "The Niggytardust concept sets me free to do more on stage with costume, etc. than one might expect from a regular Saul Williams show. It allows me to put my theatre training to use. I've also thought long and hard about all the discussion surrounding racial epithets etc. and chose this title as a means of furthering the dialogue while also showing how creativity will outlive and outshine hatred of any kind."Saul Williams is equally famous for his music as he is for his politically charged poetry. And sure enough, the tour includes not only regular performances of music from the album, but also 2 dates that will be purely spoken word. The tour starts at SXSW March 12th and 13th then spreads west and south as it circles the US until the end of April.
