Give Carlos a listen. He is one of the most inventive players out there and has unbelievable chops. Here is a link to his site with more samples of his stuff. If he comes to your area DO NOT MISS HIM!
He has best guys playing with him as well, usually a 3 piece combo that tear places right the hell up.
This vid is just him and a guitarist but gives you a good idea of what he does.
