Time for some of my own stuff methinks.

Well I figured I should put up one of my own tracks for your collective listening pleasure. It's a bit of an experiment as well since MOG totally failed to upload an mp3 I tried to put on here earlier. This track's called "Stop Crowding My Dog" (the title's totally unrelated to the music and lyrics - I was trying to prove a point to one of my band mates. He probably didn't get it) and evolved out of me and my brother challenging each other to make a track featuring the crashing piano sound you hear at the beginning (a recording of my old Music Tech teacher mashing the bottom end of a piano keyboard). All the drum sounds are treated versions of the piano sample. You can find some other stuff i've done at www.myspace.com/sandyfinlayson :)

  1. Anonymous says wow! I don't get the point of the song either lol but you sound great! your voice is kind of like Thom's ... kind of. It's high when you sing but that's hard for guy's to do, so kudos. What's your band called? going over to those links now

  2. Smudged says The band's called INTRODUCING: Emergency/Music (www.myspace.com/introducingemergencymusic) and is an equal mish-mash of a lot of different genres and stuff. Most of the time we're just having a laugh tbh but people seem to like it ;)

  5. Smudged says hehe, thanks very much. We do our best. Tis a shame you're all the way round the other side of the world cos the more people we can get to gigs the better ;) Maybe one day we'll make it big but I somehow doubt that ;) Do you write any of your own piano stuff?

  6. Anonymous says yes I do! I just haven't posted anything because of copyright stuff. I'm on break right from college but when I was I'd get regular small audieneces and stuff, it was cool. Good Luck on your music ventures :( I'll put some of my own up soon though, just want to have it done right. Yeah, who knows, maybe down the line we can collaborate or something :)

  10. Smudged says fair enough. Well maybe you should dye it blue. It would turn heads if nothing else ;) (I had blue hair for a while). That's a properly cool major. I'm doing music composition and technology which is pretty interesting. At home for the summer now though which is a little dull. Yeah yeah, over here in little old england. We record all the stuff as we write it so we've only jsut started gigging around. It's been good though - pretty much involves us trying to dress up as weirdly as possible and making people dance. I can think of worse things to do in my spare time. Oh, and that song, i dunno, it doesn't really have a point. I don't really write music that has a message in particular. I find it ties me down a bit too much. I think it's about the start of a relationship and then maybe someone going a bit mad. I don't really know. The lyrics were whatever I liked the sound of at the time and flowed together well ;)

  11. Anonymous says yeah, I'll just pull a Gwen Stefani HAHA , actually I was a blonde believe it or not for a year HA... yeah right?! I'm telling the truth though heh! Maybe Comic Blue or Magenta color no? True. There are worst things to be done, keep it up, it really does sound great. I agree. music don't need a meaning at all :) Sounds great, I enjoyed the songs on yor page too, good stuff! :)

  12. Smudged says Hehe well thanks very much. Well as strange as it may sound i got a few pink bits in my hair at the moment. I justify it with the fact that it glows orange in UV light ;) You got a myspace or anything like that? oh, and I'd love to hear some of your stuff. I think you learn a lot about people by the music they write. And it's always good to hear new stuff :)

  13. Anonymous says HAHA- pink. good choice :) nope. no myspace.... for many reasons heh! :D I will post something soon what's weird is that my bro has a studio, 17g of equipment, I just have to ask. I'm just shy I guess to share my music. I will though ... meh

  14. Smudged says Hehe fair enough. Maybe one day I'll be able to have a proper studio rather than having to cover my bedroom in cables and microphones ;) I'll look out for that post. I'm looking forward to it :D I'm sure you have good reasons for no myspace. I pretty much only use it for music stuff anyways. Facebook does the social networking thing a little better but they're all pretty much just time wasters. Useful for when you're sposed to be doing work ;)
