Traffic and desktops and bills...oh my!
Classic reminder of a world created by humans to grind the people down. More iron in irony these days as our quest for happiness seems to be lighting the proverbial fire under our own arses. A sizzling moment to reflect upon as we listen to the lyrics of this classic track by the Specials.
Ranging from politics to their relentless message to all rudies for unity, this band doesn't mess around with their world wide justified right to free speech in music. When I hear this tune, the first thought that comes to mind for me is...didn't we invent money? I know it doesn't grow on trees. That's all people ever say about it when they don't have it. So, why the outlandish stress about living a life here on earth? I dunno either. Wh'appen to the thousands of years where people actually lived in accordance to the balance of things? The population in the 1800s went from a billion people on earth to the current 6,905,459,000 and counting...fast.
(check out how fast it's growing here)
I wonder what it is today...?
As if the world's skinner box had the perfect anthem for the
RAT RACE we have become.
Big MOGups to The Almighty Specials!
...for keepin' it real!
Next post should be more cheerful!

Man I love The Specials. No doubt the world moves twice as fast every day, but at least we are here to see it move.
quite possibly one of the best ska shows I have ever gotten to go see
Listening to the Specials makes the world go faster. Or at least, makes me feel faster.
Rawk, when did you see them? I hear they are reforming for a few UK dates.
back in 1996, actually got the tickets for free. Talk about a double score!
ah, thats sweet! I would love to see them. Missed the English Beat when they came round a few months back.
I as well, and they played a played a rather cool venue when they came
Hey 4U -- nice sentiment to keep in mind, in these here troubled times. It's we humans that make the trouble - for ourselves.
The Specials were special and that would be cool if they reunite. Wow, a reunited No Doubt and Specials to look forward to, how sweet.
If you're now in the mood to hear some great ska, check out this previous Uptones post that went almost unnoticed.
