Dave Stewart [not the Eurythmics dude] was the keyboardist for Canterbury/Prog giants Hatfield & the North and Egg among others, but I didn't know he also had a career as a synth popper in the 80s with his wife Barbara Gaskin, who also sang in Hatfield. I've only recently begun to properly appreciate his prog stuff which is exceptional, but though his synth-pop stuff is dated sounding, it's a treat for fans of stuff like later Scritti Politti or muso kind of pop like that.
Most of it consists of unlikely covers but it is super lush with layers of ear-candy synth chords and sweet harmonies. It lapses into cheesiness sometimes, but when it's on [as in "Im in a Diffrent World," a Holland-Dozier-Holland cover - not that you'd ever know it] it's way on.
