Any Trouble

Never even heard of these guys till recently. An early Eighties band on the Stiff label, they've got some super-solid, smart pop tunes reminiscent of the classic moves of folks like Costello or Marshall Crenshaw. "Turning Up the Heat" manages the neat trick of being kinda forlorn and totally hopped up and bursting with energy at the same time. Lots of other first-rate hooks, vocals and wizend lyrics. Excellent, clear production that sounds timeless, too. Great find.

  1. JILL-O says I'm gonna check them out. Love the 80s.

  2. d0gstar says they're good - saw 'm on the Stiffs Live tour, with Joe King Carrasco, Dirty Looks, Tenpole Tudor, and the Equators. Clive Gregson did an album with Christine Collister that's really good, and he later worked with Richard Thompson. I love that English folk-rocky stuff

  3. Lord of the Starfields says "Where Are All The Nice Girls"... is one of my absolute favorite 80's records \ and Any Trouble are a very under-appreciated band. I'm currently going through my old vinyl collection and mogging about the not so well known gems; saving my Any Trouble rant until I have more readers of my Mog but it's great to know someone has discovered them recently.
