Talk about yr uncool bands! But though they dip into the cheese too often, these UK pop-funkers coudl really tie together some proggy, catchy funk - and main dude Mark King def played a mean bass. I don't know why I'm poking my head out of the sand for their sake, they figure pretty low in the 'fave band' ratings, but I loved this disc way back when, and I still think they can be exceptionally elegant in their arrangements and melodies when they wanted to. "Physical Presence" is a good example, v. groovy and kinda hazy with nice keyboard parts and layers of subtle guitar.

cheesy catchy!
Great album. It still holds up 25 years later, especially "Something About You," which somehow manages to sound contemporary and dated at the same time. And yes, Mark King does play "a mean bass."
