MUSIC SIGNPOSTS ON THE WEB'S LONELY ROAD

(451)

Those multicolored raindrops actually hit my skin ; that voice from the disembodied head resonated in my ears; the lace-light arcing tunnels blurred as I moved through them at great speed; and that heavy sensation of gravity (pulling me down in darkness into transition with the others) was as real as what you feel when your airplane suddenly drops due to turbulence. The descriptions in Part One of this post just can't convey how real the experiences in those dreams were.

I had a little epiphany in a giant bookstore. So I'm in Chapters a few years ago, and I pick up a slim volume about yogic practices. It explains the history and the how-to process of out-of-body-experiences (o.b.e). As I'm scanning it-- wishing there was a Mystical Experiences for Dummies quick guide-- I come across the fact that there are apparently two ways to exit the body, the death canal and the birth canal. Apparently the death canal passage is a one-time thing; your soul uses it only when you die, but with the birth-canal it's like a beer-tent wristband: while living, you have in/out privileges. And I nearly dropped the book when I read the following: as you leave your body, you move through an arcing tunnel of light. The author goes on to describe in detail exactly what, as I fell asleep, I'd been seeing all my life (but hadn't understood). As for that little epiphany: I now knew why I'd wet the bed when I was a child. I wouldn't actually be at the toilet when I let myself pee-- my body was still in bed, and I was probably having o.b.e's. An out-of-body-experience also explained why that powerful interstellar dream-- which was much different than my 'normal' dreams-- had felt so real.

Years later, strangely enough, the end part of that deep-space dream was also confirmed in print. I was reading a book about the Ascended Masters-- wise teachers like Buddha, Jesus, etc. Each chapter had a depiction of a teacher, and there, in chapter 10 or 11 or so, was exactly the guy I'd seen, way out there past that galaxy of galaxies. The same bald head, the same unusal eyebrows, the slightly Asian eyes... BTW I had known who Buddha was when I had had the dream, and knew that it definitely wasn't him-- just as I knew years later, when reading this new book and seeing this picture, that it was this guy I'd seen.)

The falling dream was actually confirmed as an O.B.E. much quicker, and this time not in a book but on t.v. That phrase repeating in my head as I awoke, that I mentioned in Part One? It was echoed, nearly exactly, by multiple news anchors two days later, when the towers fell on 9/11. The phrase was "The world is different now."

As for the rainstorm-of-many-colors dream, I'm not sure as to it's meaning, or whether it involved an O.B.E. into say, another dimension, time frame or spiritual realm or whatever, or if it was simply great visuals induced by spicy pizza. For that matter, I'm not sure what any of these O.B.E.'s or dreams mean.

But I do know that they helped turn my attention to what I'll call the Beautiful Mystery. And many attempts to understand it come out as songs...

So the track for this post is one that conveys, hopefully, that feeling of beauty and mystery, and also indescribable elation. (While you're listening to it, imagine it's raining a million colors.)

It's from the Various Chimeras CD by Shinjuku Zulu (on iTunes). The vocals are by Shawn Skeir, who also sings on the electro-blues-rap Dirty Liar and the breakbeat worksong Freedom from the "Sonorous Susurrus" disc by K.I.A.

I'm beginning to understand the connections between your thoughts and expressions, if that makes sense.

BTW, do any other online places besides iTunes have your music for downloading?

...or maybe the disconnections ; )

Anyway all the Shinjuku Zulu and K.I.A. music is available on most digital distribution sites: iTunes, eMusic, SNOCAP (myspace), Napster, Rhapsody, MSN Music, Muze, etc etc. and hardcopy on Amazon, CDbaby, or directly from Neuphoria Recordings: info@nu4ya.com... (thanks for asking. i always link to iTunes cuz it seems to be far and away what people use most.)

cheers K.I.A.

Oh good. (I just have a thing about iTunes. I hate people telling me what I can do and I most definitely am not having a bearded guy in a polo neck tell me on what I can or can't play my music.)

Very good track, but the dream sequences... Have you ever looked at the art of Crowley? Please keep the remembrances coming, filtered through music and in print!

I'm familiar with Crowley (mostly through the Rigorous Intuition website. That painting you linked to is interesting. Close, but the guy I saw had much kinder and gentler eyes... the Crowley image looks like my guy on crack and crank. Check out the Rig Int site; very provocative and thoughtful posts..

Going to R.I. now, thank you! Coming from Crowley's perspective, throw in some Morphine and that's just about nailed it:)
