AC/DC's "Back in Gap"

Posted over 3 years ago
It happened again... A few years ago, some chick strummed a few bars of Back in Black on a commercial for the Gap and told the camera how she loved Angus Young. Okay, that wasn't so bad...Then last night I heard the familiar sounds of AC/DC coming through my TV with some sort of mash-up thing going. Girls with black jeans and capri pants were swirling around on the screen. "Back in Black - Pants!"Another travesty of commercial sellout for the Gap.I'm so ashamed and humiliated.Youtube doesn't have it on yet, otherwise I would show it. Just consider this post a warning.

  8. Dave says Yes, that's Audrey Hepburn from the film "Funny Face". If you're pissed at someone about this, why not be pissed at AC-DC for licensing their tune? Not that I buy anything at The Gap.

  9. Manos says Cry all you want about AC/DC; I'm crying about Audrey Hepburn.

  11. Bee K says That's the test between a good song and a lousy song. "Black and Black" can withstand infinite commericial abuse and won't lose its potency. Neither will "Baba'O'Reily." Spoon's songs--and I love Daniels' production--will have no such luck. Once a car comercial song, always a car commercial song.

  14. etcvisitor says i think that when it comes down to licensing laws the artist really has a hard time controlling that sort of thing. it all depends on who owns the masters to that specific sound recording (usually the label) and who takes care of all of the publishing stuff (often a publishing subsidiary of the record label that owns the masters). i doubt anyone directly asked malcolm or angus anything about this situation. then again ive been wrong about other things.

  15. Sethpian says Its such a funny world we live in... artist no longer own their art once they want to make money with it... Anyone ever read the Fountainhead by Ayn Rand? Kind of reminds me of that. Maybe artists should blow up their masters and the glass discs once the labels finish printing the copies....
