1 part music, 3 parts rambling

hey you guys, yea, it's been a while since the last post, but i'm sure it doesn't matter; i'm surely not that interesting, right? but anyway, i thought it's about time for an update, and some music to compliment.well, the old routine is set in motion, as today was the first day back to school for me. waking up incredibly early, and then after hours of boring classes, it's back home again, only to work on homework due the next day. it's as though someone switched on autopilot, except that someone apparently can't grasp the concepts of fun, and time well spent..well, i guess in my opinion. but on the other hand it is really interesting to rejoin the friends you haven't talked to since may. of course, that's the clincher though. that's also why homeschooling never really caught on with me; the lack of social interaction just isn't worth while.despite the reduced amount of free time, i've managed to set aside some time to record. so far so good, i've finally gotten some good takes done, and it's starting to sound like a song. i'm not sure when it'll be finished though, hopefully soon enough. (wow, i just read all that i've typed, and i've gotta say, this post is pretty dang long and boring. sorry, i guess it's just that i'm tired, and really can't think of anything to type tonight. so i instead ramble on about things, thusly.)well, as being a huge death cab fan, here's a song that's one of my fav's at the moment. it's off of their album, "You Can Play These Songs With Chords." It's called "Street State Residential." this song's slow and mellow, it's about drinking in bellingham, and it somewhat matches the mood i'm in. well, enjoy, and i promise better, shorter, and more interesting posts in the future =/seth

  1. max says this is far and away my favorite DCFC album, don't get me wrong, i like a good deal of the new stuff (with the exception of almost all of the most recent one), but seriously, this is when Death Cab were fucking great album garage sounding indie rock....I mean even Chris Walla sang a song or two and there's a european dance club song, haha, not to mention a smiths cover!

  2. Seth Roddy says yea, definitely agreed. this is a great album, and probably was peak in their garage indie sound, but to compare the new sound they've recently captured to their past would somewhat be like the ole apples and oranges; they're both great sounds, just different takes on indie music in their perspective. and the most recent album not being as great, probably may have something to do with their deal with atlantic records, which is not like the smaller barsuk, under which they produced all or most other albums and e.p.'s, but i don't know. i wish them well and hope they keep the music coming. they're just great and extremely talented in at the least level.

  3. nine stories says this is one of my favorite death cab songs! the slurred tune is righteously parallel with the lyrics... I almost feel buzzed just listening.
