Performance and Interview with Tyka Nelson - Gospel Funk Artist!

Posted 11 months ago

When I was first on MOG as 2Serenity, I did a post of Tyka Nelson sharing my love and appreciation of Tyka Nelson's song, "Joy"

Now, I find out that Tyka did a LIVE performance of my favorite song, "Joy" !!

When I first heard the song, I was going nutty over it. I love the vocals, the lyrics and the energy that Tyka expresses with her tribute to enjoying her appreciation to God.

Now, that her new album is out you know I bought a copy [well a few! 8) ]

Enjoy the interivew and the music! I am so happy to see her do her thing!

Hi Jen,  This is nice.  Not really my cuppa you understand,  if I start dancin' it sounds like a bag of epileptic castanets.  But I wanted to say hi.  I hope folks are busy with holiday activities & not just drifting away from the MOG.

@deadmandeadman - oh other people are not being active? MOG can be a lot of work when you want to foster a community. For me, this is my playground here but I have been busy with life offline and online to. I sort of over extended myself and I try to maintain about 5 blogs but MOG is definitely my 1st love.

I hope you are doing well! Thank you for considering the post although it is not your cup of tea. That is one thing that i appreciate about you is that at least you try and then realize whether or not it is for you. That is what I truly admire about you and many thers here on MOG.com

I am actually in the process of moving and that is why I have not been here that much. I will eventally get myself back on track.

Big hugs and I hope you enjoy your holiday season with your family.

    Thank you for reading!

Oh you are so right.  I'll listen to anything,  but of course I am discerning, naturally leaning towards what floats my boat, as are we all.  That's why I am not a big fan of satalite radio.  Sure you can hear all you want of the music you love....but how're you gonna hear anything new?  Particularly outside your personnal comfort zone,  you know?  Because of good friend Baudolino I have discovered Alton Ellis & I've been grabbin' everything I can put my hands on.  He's an incredibly gifted singer with barbwire empathy & the gentle spirit of a true poet/warrior.  But the point is....I'd have never heard of him if I hadn't developed a "trust" in his tastes that I listen to most of what he posts.  Its not always to my liking but its usually worth hearing.  The same can be said of your (increasingly infrequent) posts,  I usually listen, and every now n then, yeah,  I like that.  And that's why I MOG

PS...you always debate politics with a civil tone & consideration of sensibilties that is admirable & rare.  I always appreciated that.

@deadmandeadman - wow, thank you so much saying that I debate politics with a civil tone and sensibilities. That means a lot from you saying that. I have to give both my parents all due credit and respet for they both are not individuals who jump in your face about those issues regardless of how upset or mad they get. I observed them and have tried to take on their mannerisms in it. I wish though others would be the same. It is so unnecessary to blow up in someone's face without giving them an opportunity to be heard. You stay blessed my friend! xoox

OH, I have to check out Alton Ellis. Thank you for the recommendation! xoo I hope he has some music on emusic.com! xoxox
