WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Pete Belasco's music is always at the TOP of my playlist!

Posted about 1 year ago

3 years ago when I was working in Washington, DC, I would frequent a music store called, Kemp Mill Records on a WEEKLY basis.

It came to the point where I befriended the store manager and he always gave me a clue of who I should be listening to.

One day the manager told me, YOU HAVE to listen to Pete Belasco. I said, "WHO?" He said, "Pete Belasco." He put his music on in the store and my ears perked up in delight. I asked the store manager to quickly let me listen to the first 20 seconds of each song. I was sold!

I bought Pete Belasco's album, Deeper, without a hesitation wondering if I would enjoy the entire album which I did and still do and it is always on the top of my playlist even if my iTunes playlist does not show it for I have the CD which I play on my boom box on a regular basis.

As some of my readers may realize, I have a healthy obsession with falsetto voices (Maxwell, Bee Gees, etc). Pete Belasco to me has a falsetto voice that gives me the nervous chills of delight. I always giggle, cusp my hand to my mouth and have teenage screams when I listen! His voice allows me to drift off into dreamland. When I listen to his music, I don't worry of my realities of what I am facing but the what ifs...

I had previously written about Pete Belasco when I was 2Serenity but I wanted to resurrect my appreciation for Pete Belasco because I am wondering what is he up to? Is he recording new music? Is he touring? I dunno but I need to peak at his myspace page and give him a holler.

If you enjoy his music, please give him a wave or a head knod over here:

Well I don't know about all that,  but this is nice on a Saturday evening.

Its wringing wet & dreary outside, we're sharing some wine & your soundtrack here, very nice.  I have a healthy obsession for fine, cool, understated guitars & this is gorgeous.

I really enjoyed this.  The beat was slow enough so that it could work as ambient music as well as mesmerizing music.  He has a beautiful voice.

There was a song called Love Train on his first record that I really liked..He kinda doesn't fit into any particular category which must make it tough for him. I haven't been up on his latest material, so thanks for that.

@spike - yes it is definitely mesmerizing music. I work extremely well to his voice and *downtempo* vibe! Pete Belasco is a must for me!

@codyB maybe that maybe the problem in marketing him? But his voice and music reminds me of Maxwell but then Maxwell has been having the same issues of being caught up into a *category* because he drifts from the R & B standard. I hope Pete Belasco makes another album.

I FINALLY bought Pete Belasco's first album. It took me a long time to find it! No one was selling it so I had to go through a used music store to get it! It was driving me NUTS!
