WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Nas - Black President (Official Video)

Posted about 1 year ago

My friends just shared this video with me and I was not to sure if it was here on MOG. This video gives me hope and empowerment for the world to have change.

To me, electing Obama as President of the United States would be a monuemental change for our country.

Maybe we can really be the change that we want to see in the world that Gandhi preached.

Maybe others could begin to listen to one another instead of being too reactionary.

For me it is all about respecting another individual in all regards.

Do you want change?

I do.

Please register to vote and vote in November 2008 if you are a USA citizen.

Thank you!

I'm not sure what you mean.  In spite of the lofty rhetoric, Sen Obama has proven to be a cynical, coldly calculating politician.  That just makes him "more of the same".   To vote for a man based solely on skin color is racist, no?  Beyond that,  the certified **most Liberal Senator** has ??never?? exhibited any attempt to cross any aisles.  He is a socialist.

And the accusations of racism that's leveled at his critics are as old school as it gets.

    >>>Having said all that,  I would vote for the man but for his dangerously naive, (or cynically disengenuous) views on Iraq & the Middle East in general.  Already his rhetoric has made the world a much more dangerous place as the Israelis feel that they'll have to act soon to take out (or degrade significantly) Iran's nuclear program because they do not trust the good Sen to back their play if he's elected.  ??this?? in turn will force our hand.  We ??cannot?? allow Israel to do it, so we'll have to do it.

His pledge to withdraw troops from Iraq on a 16 month time table is pure folly and ??he knows it??.  The rest of the world does, that's for sure.

    Just my two cents.

Isn't a strange, wild & wonderful world that two such as we can so readily connect with music and still be so far apart politically?

Anyone is better than another Bush administration at this point.

Sen. Obama is the one candidate to me who is civil in listening to all sides of a situation and allowing other nations to give their opinion with him listening intensely. I did not feel this way with Sen. Clinton and I do not feel this way with Sen. McCain.

Sen. Obama will do his best in withdrawing the troops from Iraq for like most I do not agree with the war over there. I am not to sure what time frame is best? 16 months? I do not know. I want them out sooner but anytime soon would be great.

Although Nas is rapping about a Black President, my point is to have a competent President who can get the job done and that man to me happens to be Sen. Barack Obama. He is qualified for he has the education (BA Columbia/ JD Harvard Law) and the grassroots experience in working in state level politics in Illinois. He was elected as the Senator of Illinois so obviously he was doing something right for the state to elect him.

Further, I feel confident he will have a team of leaders who will be able to get our country in better condition that it is now.  I do not feel this way about McCain nor any other candidate who is running on other party tickets.

Music is wonderful in that way where we can at least try to talk and be civil with one another.

Think it is time for me to listen to some Jessye Norman now & Kathleen Battle.

@deadmandeadman - you like Kathleen Battle?! [[@deadmandeadman]] She is one of my favorite singers! My mother has an album called Spirituals that Kathleen Battle collaborated with Jessye Norman which is one of my favorite albums.

The reason why the album is one of my favorites is that it calms me and gives me hope like how we are questioning this Presidency.

    Link to album:

Amazon.com: Spirituals in Concert: Anonymous, American Anonymous, Harry T. (Henry) Burleigh, American Traditional, Spiritual Traditional, James Levine, Hubert Law, Hubert Laws, Nancy Allen, Hale Smith, Mark Fax, Sylvia Olden Lee, Jessye Norman, Kathleen Battle: Music

I feel sometimes hopeless about our government but when I listen to her music it gives me the hope.

Thank you for the lively discussion!

You are SOO right about her voice.

You know who else is comforts me like Kathleen Battle?

    Amel Larrieux

@deadmandeadman - her music always brings me joy when I feel down. If you ever have the opportunity to either see her live or listen to her music, it is a must!
